Salt mine in Lanzarote | Black & White Photography Round 82

in #hive-15334912 days ago

Located in the south of the Canary Island of Lanzarote are the Janubio salt mines, surrounded by a sea of lava and several ancient inactive volcanoes, which can be seen in the background of the image. They cover an area of 450,000 square metres and currently produce 2,000 tonnes of high quality sea salt, although at their peak in the mid-20th century they produced up to 10,000 tonnes.
