My Uncle Died and I never knew he Existed;

Would you believe that I never met my uncle who lived just 10 kilometers away from my home? One good thing about funerals is that people gets an unpredicted reunions!

Hello, Hivers! Another week has conme and It's a great opportunity to have it. I hope your weekend was well and productive! As for me, I was able to do the laundry by hand scrubbing them till the clothes are clean. I've been doing the laundry in the washing machine for a long time and the clothes don't seem to be clean enough everytime I do them.

Anyways, this weekend, I met an uncle I never knew existed and he was dead when I got to see him. Is it sad? Well I never think of it that way because I grew up having no uncles or grandparents around me and I got used to our family being alone and I kind of like it that way.

He was my mother's half brother on her father's side and I understand why they are not that close. I did hear his name sometimes when some of my cousins come to our house bit I did not pay attention and one more thing, my parents and him had some conflict before they parted ways in the past but since I was not paying attention to what adults talk about during those times, I could not remember the stories.

Last Friday, my sister, when she went to my house to do something, she asked me if I would go to the wake and I honestly did not know who died! She told me that the other sister informed her that Salde died on Monday and they are coming on the weekend to attend the last night of wake. The other sister was the clan president in their place and no wonder she has to do it.

I was not interested on going to someone's wake whom I do not know then all of a sudden I asked my sister why do we have to go and then she said that he was our mother's brother and we had to. Well, I was caught off guard and I sad yes and asked my husband to accompany us their on Sunday evening.

The sister from Valencia came home past 5pm, and then we prepared dinner and left to go to the wake. Along the way, I and my husband were laughing on how bizzare my family's story was. I honestly envy people who don't seem to have conflict with thier relatives and lived harmoniously on one compound.

When we arrived, a few minutes later some of my cousins arrived from a very long ride too. Then we walked towards thier home where his wake was.

We went in, and there I met my dead uncle whome I haven't met when he was still alive, I also met his wife, some of their 10 kids and thier grand childrens whom I also met for the very first time. None of them look familiar(I don't easily remember people's faces anyway) but I bet somewere along the way, we have crossed paths but never knew we were related or something.

These are some of the moments I caught on camera

Soon, people came in to see the the late uncle and so I went outside to meet my other cousins and bond with them. They were helping in the kitchen as they usually do, they want to be of help and it's their way of bonding with others too.

My daughter missed my sister very much and she wanted to be carrried by her most of the times and she didn't mind even if she was talking to someone who she knew when she was younger. They had an amazing reiunion!

Meanwhile other people who attended the wake were so busy with card games and in every win, they would donate it to the family.

My husband saw a neighbor from where we lived and they chatted for a while, I went to him and talkd some more. It turned out that the one whonpassed away was the man's uncle and I thought we were relatives yet we were not.

It was very confusing because my grandpa took another woman after my grandma died.

Then a familiar looking woman came near me if I knew the man I was with(she was describing my husband) and says he was very familiar. she was a neighbor, and a relative of the man who passed away. She even think that she saw him on the factory near us. But the husband thinks he was one of our batchmates in highschool and a sibling of the man my husband talked with.

These men volunteered in cutting the meat, most of them are family relatives too.

The night is going deeper and I realize that my cousis and the kids they are with haven't eaten yet and the kids were grumpy so I volunteered getting some biscuits for them and about 20 minutes later, dinner was cooked and everyone on the venue ate.

The kitchen was too small so they made an outdoor makeshift kitchen. And the nighbors let the family borrow the pots to accommodate large scale cooking.

Soon after the people had their dinner, my sister, me and two of my kids sat on the firewood stocks to relax. Of course the kids borrowed my phone that is why I was not able to take more pictures but the wonderful moment I was with my sister talking about random things are priceless!

9pm came, I was already sleepy and tired from all the laundry I did that day before, I was wishing my mum would ask us to go home already. My daughter still had to go to school the next day and it was already past their bedtime. Then five minutes later, mum came asking to go home.

The husband drove slowly and we were enjoying the almost empty road. My son fell asleep and soon I asked my husband to drive faster because my sonos heavy in my arms.

Good thing my husband thought of preparing the bed before we went out so that when we come home, we could head straight to bed already.

Today was his burial and I was not able to come; I had to go to work but the rest of the family went. The burial was done at 11am and whne I called my mum, they wwnt back to the house, probably for the burial feast and made some more time to support the uncl's wife.

More relatives came that night and I realized that there were many relatives around me whom I never knew I had. Funerals do bring people and relatives together, and that is where most broken relationships were mended.

This will be all for my blog today, and I hope you have good relationship with yoru relatives and you know them.

Keep safe!
