Good day everyone and the Splinterlands community. Today's Blog highlight will be the Legendary Doctor Blight strategy in the low mana cap rule set. This time, we're focusing on the formidable Legendary card, Doctor Blight, and exploring effective strategies for utilizing this powerful character in low mana cap rule sets. Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting, these tips will help you maximize Doctor Blight's unique abilities to dominate your battles in low mana cap rule sets.

Doctor Blight is undoubtedly one of the most overpowered cards in the Modern League, standing out as a magic legendary card with a low mana cost of just 4. Despite its low 1-speed stat, this card boasts impressive useful abilities that make it a game-changer in many battles, especially in a low mana cap rule set. With Affliction, it can prevent enemies from healing, Camouflage keeps it hidden from direct attacks, Poison delivers consistent damage over time (50% chance applying to the enemy targets, Scavenger increases its health as the battle progresses when a certain unit is executed, and Weaken reduces the health of all enemy monsters by 1 health. These abilities make Doctor Blight a versatile and indispensable asset in various strategic scenarios, providing a significant advantage to players who know how to harness its full potential. Now let's get in the battle to utilize this card potential strategy.

Kelya Frendul

It gives additional both Armor and Speed by 1 to all friendly units.

Since water is active on this rule set, Kelya Frendul has the most units useful for taking advantage of speed and armor, and this element has the most high-speed stats giving me a high chance of initiating to attack first and the chance of incoming miss attacks. The strategy that came to mind is using Cruel Sethropod, Igor Darkspear, Doctor Blight, and others to compensate 14 mana cap rule set.

The rule set given is Armored Up, Are You Not Entertain? and Weak Magic.

My Simple Plan Line up

First position - Cruel Sethropod
  • Acts as a tank in first position because of 8 armor, 7 health, and 3 melee damage. It is also a better choice than Xenith Monk or other units because the rule set given is Weaken Magic, utilizing its armor as a shield when opponents prioritize using magic. However, this armor can be destroyed when the opponent has stronger units or Shatter ability.
Second position - Chaos Agent
  • Placed in the second position, the Chaos Agent serves as a backup tank, ready to step in if Cruel Sethropod is defeated. Its primary role is to take hits from types of attack, and a chance of triggering the Backfire ability when the opponent attacks miss which will cause the opponent to take melee damage.
Third position - Igor Darkspear
  • Igor Darkspear plays a main-range attack role in the lineup, contributing to my team composition damage. This unit key ability, Stun, is useful for Stunning the target and will not attack in the next round or won't attack on specified round (speed difference) effectiveness of my front-line units, ensuring my tanks stay in top form and can endure longer in battle.
Fourth position - Torrent Fiend
  • Parts as extra slots to play, but also best support if the opponent prioritizes using Range Damage. Torrent Fiend can decrease opponent range attacks by 1 with an ability of Headwinds. It only cost 0 mana cap, the best choice, and must deploy when the rule given is a low mana cap.
Fifth position - Doctor Blight
  • Doctor Blight adds another layer of support with a mix of offensive and disruptive abilities. With the Poison ability, Doctor Blight's attacks have a 50% chance to apply poison, inflicting automatic damage at the beginning of each round after the poison takes effect. Beyond poison, Doctor Blight also brings other valuable abilities such as Affliction, which prevents healing; Camouflage, which keeps it from being targeted by attacks; Scavenger, which increases its health when an enemy dies, and Weaken, which reduces the health of all enemy units. These abilities make Doctor Blight a versatile and strategic support unit, enhancing my team's effectiveness and endurance in battle.

Selecting a useful ability in this battle with a good amount of damage will increase your chances of victory in this type of rule set.

Will my strategy line up work?

The opponent uses also Kelya Frendul for utilizing armor and speed, the difference between us is that the opponent uses Merdali Gaurdian supporting in first position Cruel Sethropod healing and Repairing armor per round and Tide Biter for extra main melee damage with useful abilities True Strike and Reach ability. I use strategy as anti-heal because of my Doctor Blight, meaning the opponent Merdali Guardian is not useful in this battle. Also, notice that I use Igor Dark Spear rather than Tide Biter, Tide Biter is quite an expensive cost so I go with using Igor Darkspear especially since it has a useful ability that chance of stunning the opponent's target. The opponent puts Chaos Agent in the back maybe because it thinks that I might attack in the back using Pelacor Bandit or Uraeus. I believe I'm gonna win this match, it's like the Antiheal vs Heal strategy. I have the upper hand when comes to support and useful ability with my Doctor Blight.

Doctor Blight the MVP of this match, dominates the opponent with magic and applying poison. If the opponent uses stronger units in this 14-mana cap rule set, then I might have a higher chance of losing this battle, or use counterattack Magic Reflect and Cleanse with healing, and if I use sneak attacks which the opponent uses Chaos Agent as a tank I sure lose this battle.

What could we learn from this strategy?

This battle underscores the importance of understanding your cards' abilities and anticipating the opponent’s strategy. Doctor Blight, with his anti-heal capabilities, can be a game-changer in low mana matches, especially when healing is part of the opponent's core strategy. However, it's crucial to remain adaptable and consider potential counter-strategies to maintain the upper hand.

Depending on the rules stipulated and the opponent's past battles, therefore be sure to research and evaluate the potential lineup you wish to utilize. Remember that to employ effective tactics, you must combine cards that have powers that are appropriate or beneficial for the given rule sets, place them in favorable positions, and get familiar with your opponent's lineup. Stronger opponent cards? you might still defeat and win it even with your basic lineup 🤗.

This is another simple strategy yet helpful for certain matches in the life line-up element, feel free to check my other blog that uses the Water element which I commonly use, and hope this could help you in the battle. 😊
