Good day everyone and the Splinterlands community. Today's Blog highlight will be the Wands Out rule set with Chaos Dragon and Void Dragon strategy.
Dragon is quite strong when involved with flying-type units and can combine a certain element especially since most units have a high number of stats speed that can have a high chance of evading opponent attacks. I'll be sharing battle strategy experience with the Dragon element combo line-up.

Quix the Devious
Decrease opponent units' range damage and speed by 1.
This summoner is effective for reducing the opponent's speed and minimizing the chances of the opponent's attacks evading. Since the Earth Element is currently inactive that is a great opportunity to use the Immortalis summoner in combination with the Wands Out rule set. In addition to that, I've developed another strategy that works well for the Dragon-Water element. This is particularly effective because many of the units in the Dragon-Water combination have high-speed stats, making them suitable for this battle.
The rule set given is Wands Out, Heavy Hitters, and Weak Magic.
My Simple Plan Line up
First position - Djinn Oshannus
- Djinn Oshannus takes the lead role in the first position, acting as the primary tank for my lineup. Thanks to its powerful abilities, including Void, Phase, and Forcefield, Djinn Oshannus has a high chance of surviving through most rounds. The Void ability reduces the damage taken from magic attacks, while Phase increases the chance to evade magic attacks. Forcefield also ensures that any damage exceeding a certain threshold is reduced to one, making Djinn Oshannus a best tank choice for this rule set.
Second position - Void Dragon
- Placed in the second position, the Void Dragon serves as a backup tank, ready to step in if Djinn Oshannus is defeated. Its primary role is to absorb hits, especially from enemy magic units. With its own high health and magic-resistant abilities, Void Dragon provides a solid defense, ensuring that my team remains protected and can continue dealing damage even if the main tank falls.
Third position - River Nymph
- River Nymph plays a support role in the lineup, contributing to the Void Dragon and Djinn Oshannus. Her key ability, Cleanse, is useful for maintaining the effectiveness of my front-line units, specifically Djinn Oshannus and Void Dragon. Cleanse removes all negative effects from the unit in the first position, such as debuffs and poison, ensuring my tanks stay in top form and can endure longer in battle.
Fourth position - Chaos Dragon
-The Chaos Dragon is the main attacker of magic damage for my team. It deals a significant 4 magic damage per attack, making it a formidable offensive force. Additionally, its Blast ability allows it to deal half of that magic damage (rounded up) to units adjacent to its target, spreading its damage across multiple enemy units. This capability makes Chaos Dragon a crucial part of my strategy for dealing widespread damage to the opponent’s lineup.
Fifth position - Doctor Blight
- Doctor Blight adds another layer of support with a mix of offensive and disruptive abilities. With the Poison ability, Doctor Blight's attacks have a 50% chance to apply poison, inflicting automatic damage at the beginning of each round after the poison takes effect. Beyond poison, Doctor Blight also brings other valuable abilities such as Affliction, which prevents healing; Camouflage, which keeps it from being targeted by attacks; Scavenger, which increases its health when an enemy dies; and Weaken, which reduces the health of all enemy units. These abilities make Doctor Blight a versatile and strategic support unit, enhancing my team's effectiveness and endurance in battle.
Selecting a useful ability in this battle with a good amount of damage will increase your chances of victory in this type of rule set.
Will my strategy line up work?
The opponent seems to use Lily Shieldpaw Summoner, a Legendary summoner that can heal backline units that have taken most of the damage. The opponent also uses overpowered cards like Anasth Soothsayer and Water Caller which contribute more to healing its first-position tank and will likely survive most of the rounds. The opponents have an advantage in terms of healing and survivability in this match because the opponent strategy greatly utilized more support strategy. I on the other hand focus on speed and damage difference which means I'm in the upper hand only in this strategy. Let's see in battle who will win the strategy that has focused on Magic damage and speed or utilized the Support strategy.
With Chaos Dragon on my side, the opponent support units slowly execute because of my Scattershot and Blasts ability that Ranged and Magic attacks hit a random enemy target. And also noticed that the opponent misses a lot of attacks because of our speed stats difference. I was able to win this match because of Chaos Dragon without this I might have had a hard time defeating the opponent tank because of the support strategy on the first position. The opponent did a well-displaying line up of each unit based on their abilities.
What could we learn from this strategy?
This battle demonstrated the effectiveness of a high-speed, magic damage strategy against a support and healing-based approach. The Chaos Dragon’s abilities to deal widespread damage and disrupt the opponent's support units were essential in overcoming their healing advantage. Without the Chaos Dragon, breaking through the opponent's well-supported tank would have been much more challenging. The opponent also showcased a well-thought-out lineup, highlighting the importance of strategic unit placement based on their abilities.
Depending on the rules stipulated and the opponent's past battles, therefore be sure to research and evaluate the potential lineup you wish to utilize. Remember that to employ effective tactics, you must combine cards that have powers that are appropriate or beneficial for the given rule sets, place them in favorable positions, and get familiar with your opponent's lineup. Stronger opponent cards? you might still defeat and win it even with your basic lineup 🤗.
This is another simple strategy yet helpful for certain matches in the life line-up element, feel free to check my other blog that uses the Water element which I commonly use, and hope this could help you in the battle. 😊
