Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
Now known as the Unit Review Library!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!
456 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #141, I am 315 reviews behind!
Not picking randomly at the moment, I am focusing on Blood Angels to get them done before their new Codex comes out!
Blood Angels, Librarian Dreadnought
10th Edition Index
Another Blood Angels Dreadnought! This time, it is the remains of a Librarian that has transitioned to the venerable status of a Dreadnought while keeping his psychic abilities!
At one stage, there was a movement to add a lot of different Dreadnoughts to the Space Marine line. To clarify, a Dreadnought is a mortally wounded Space Marine on life support too valuable to lose, so he gets plugged in to this suit and he continues to serve.
There were Dreadnoughts representing anyone, Venerable Dreadnoughts were ancient Dreadnoughts or Captains. This is the Librarian Dreadnought, understandable a Librarian as a Dreadnought. There was also a Chaplain Dreadnought. You can still play that one from Legends.
There was never a Techmarine Dreadnought... but I always thought there should be!
Anyway...
This Dreadnought is 170pts
Let's check his stats!
Stats
Basically like any other Castra Ferrum Dreadnought.
Movement 6"
Toughness 9
Save 2+(armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 8
Ld 6+
OC 3
Weapons
Weapons is where this Dreadnought is different!
In Melee it has a Furioso Fist as well as a Furioso force halberd, and for ranged it has a Stormbolter/Meltagun/Heavy Flamer and a psychic shooting attack called Blood Lance!
Ranged:
Blood Lance — witchfire
Range 18", 1 Attack, Hits on a 3+, S10, Ap -3, D6 Damage each
Sustained Hits D3 (When rolling a Critical To Hit of a 6, gain an additional D3 attacks!) So 2-4 Attacks when this happens.
Psychic - This weapon has the Psychic Keyword
Blood Lance — focused witchfire
Range 18", 1 Attack, Hits on a 3+, S12, Ap -3, D6+3 Damage each
Sustained Hits D3 (When rolling a Critical To Hit of a 6, gain an additional D3 attacks!) So 2-4 Attacks when this happens.
Psychic - This weapon has the Psychic Keyword
Hazardous - After using this weapon, roll a dice, on a 1, suffer 3 Mortal Wounds.
Storm Bolter
Range 24", 2 Attacks, Hits on a 3+, S4, Ap 0, 1 Damage each
Rapid Fire 2 (At half range of 12, he gets 2x additional attacks)
Meltagun
Range 12", 1 Attack, Hits on a 3+, S9, Ap -4, D6 Damage each
Melta 2 (At half range of 6", add 2 to the Damage of this weapon.)
Heavy Flamer
Range 12", D6 Attacks, Auto Hits, S5, Ap -1, 1 Damage each
Torrent (This weapon automatically hits, just roll a D6 to see how many attacks it gets)
Ignores Cover (Enemies to not get Benefit of Cover against this attack)
Melee:
Furioso Fist
5 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S12, Ap -3, 3 Damage each
Furioso force halberd
1 Attacks, Hitting on 2+, S9, Ap -3, D6+3 Damage each
Psychic - This weapon has the Psychic Keyword
Extra Attacks (this means he can hit with his Fist and his Halberd, he does not need to choose, great since this is only 1 attack)
Abilities
Shield of Sanguinius
Friendly Adeptus Astartes units within 6" of this Dreadnought get a 5+ Feel No Pain against Mortal Wounds and Psychic attacks!
Wings of Sanguinius (aka Psychic Yeet)
Honestly, I do not know why people have not been abusing the hell out of this...
Use this ability at the end of your Movement Phase and target a friendly Infantry unit. Roll a D6, on a 1, suffer D3 Mortal Wounds. Otherwise, it works.
Select that Infantry unit within 12" and remove them off the battlefield and set them up again anywhere on the board more than 9" away from enemy models.
This is effectively a Deep Strike! Only one Dreadnought can do this in your Army per turn.
Thoughts
Dangerous in shooting, dangerous is combat. Nice buff to units around it and then there is Wings of Sanguinius. Man, I would exploit the hell out of this! Throwing combat or specialist shooting units to another part of the board to catch the enemy off-guard would be amazing!
That makes 15 Blood Angels Reviewed putting them on 78.94% Completed! The total Completed is 14.52% Complete! Can I review them all?!
Thank you for reading!
