#BeerSaturday week 318 - The Session, Spectrum and Hazy

in #beersaturdaylast year

I am headed off after posting to join family for a long weekend celebration but gotta get a #beersaturday post in first. Beer blogging comes naturally to me due to years spent brewing for myself and restaurants, working with breweries on their technology & marketing, and the decades spent imbibing. Hence, the self-decreed title of the #Blockchain #Beerologist doing my best to consume, report and even brew to do that title justice.

This week, I am having beers in exotic locations.

Pint o' the Week

IMG_8188.jpg

The Pint of the Week is a special one. A beverage at a brewery taproom, a pint in a pub, or a social beer that highlights the week. I have the privilege of working with some pretty fancy restaurants in town and they somehow found out I like beer! So, when I visit, there might be a pint involved like at https://revival.house and this time it is a Four Fathers Starter Session IPA https://fourfathersbrewing.ca/product/the-starter/ Not a bad pint for a business meeting or post work break.

Mosaic 2 Ways

I am always happy to see a new Collective Arts https://collectiveartsontario.com beer especially when it is a NEIPA with a bold label on it. Their branding is primarily made up of art from varying artists around the globe. This time it is Antonio Quintana https://www.instagram.com/canisinfernalis/ with his spectral wolf illustration. Fantastic art and hopefully the beer will be that good.

New England IPA like Galaxy 2 Ways https://collectiveartsontario.com/products/galaxy-2-ways-neipa Mosaic is perhaps my favourite IPA hop and I figured they would have it the traditional way, and maybe some cryo.. I was close as it was Galaxy Spectrum which is a liquid extraction of the hop which makes for less cleaning, easily dissolvable in the beer at the dry-hooping stage, and a stable hop flavour. Another damn fine CA pint.

Bobcaygeon

You ma be able to tell but this pint was enjoyed beside the campfire on last week's wilderness camping adventure. When in cottage country, I like to hit the local beer store and hope to find a local or regional beer I don't normally get back home. Bobcaygeon Brewing Company https://bobcaygeonbrewing.ca/ Fire is going with coals so it is time to tuck into this frosty one from the cooler.

Northern Lights Hazy IPA https://bobcaygeonbrewing.ca/collections/beers/products/ddh-northern-lights-hazy-ipa was exactly what I was looking for with the pine trees on the label and the road to Bobcaygeon we passed on the way to the provincial park. This double dry hopped hazy IPA features the standard Mosaic, and Citra hops with a new one to me, Mandarina Bavaria hops which is a cross breed of Cascade, Hallertau Blanc and Hüll Melon originating from Germany. I am learning of the new one after the fact and now feel compelled to taste this beer again if I can find it. As for a campfire beer, they are all pretty much perfect as was this bitter beauty.

Restaurant, home or camping beer for you??

Sort:

Brewery for sure :) straight to the very source :)

Definitely the best. Love that we have 4 of them to choose from right in our small town.

Lucky you. I guess that's rather uncommon in Canada :)

I rarely go out with people. I like it better at home :-)

I like em all and my fridge most of all.

A refrigerator is a necessary equipment. Unfortunately, I don't have a cold castle cellar at home :-)

I have never tasted any of these beers even though I am a beer lover
We don't have them here though...

Glad to see you are enjoying your Saturday with tasty drinks. Cheer's.

Hey @zekepickleman, here is a little bit of BEER from @cryptictruth for you. Enjoy it!

We love your support by voting @detlev.witness on HIVE .

Northern Lights would be my beer of choice from the lot. Cheers mate! !BEER

It was a good one for sure. Seemed extra dry beside the camp fire but always great to have a new ipa brewed in cottage country.

Looks like you really like IPA's. That's a style I could never get into. It seems like thats all there is at the LCBO these days though lol. Your post is making me want to revisit but I prefer Belgian style beers that focus on the malt, so it's probably not a good idea.

I just tried another beer by Bobcaygeon called Common Loon. That was pretty good.

Yes! I think I saw common loon but am definitely into the ipas a little too much. I enjoy beers with a good malt character too but they seem to not be the rage in Ontario these days.
