This is my latest AI Steampunk inspired music video, like all of my videos I only use free and open source programs. A lot of people have a misconception that all AI generated content is super easy and you really don't need talent to make outstanding work. Well that might be true in some cases, but in my case that is not true at all. First of all I use a program called Fooocus to generate my images, so first of all I have to come up with a prompt, that could take several attempts to finally get a image that I like, sometimes even after several attempts there could still be artifacts or things in the image that don't look natural, so I have to do post production to fix these things. I have an older computer with only 8GB of VRAM, so it takes anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes to generate the images in the first place.
Next these still images have to be made into short videos, so I use a program called Cog Studio for that. For me to make a 6 second animation it takes about 40 minutes, but then the animation may not look the way I want, so I have to re render it, sometimes 3 or 4 times using different prompts every time just to get one 6 second video.
After all of the images are made into short clips, I then have to get the music that I want to use. I have to admit for the music I have to use an online program, because high quality music generators that are open source that sound good. But it still takes several attempts to get my music just right, into something that I like, and even after I get it right, sometimes I have to edit it because it's too long. I use another free and open source program for that, called audacity.
Finally I put all of the images and music into a open source video editing program called “open shot” I still have to arrange the clips so that they go along with the music and add effects. Then I use a program called “Handbrake” to compress the video so that it's easier to upload. So as you can see AI is a easy way to make videos if you are using paid online services like Runway or minimax, but for the average joe using home equipment, it can be quite the process. But to be honest, I love the freedom of making videos and not having to pay or worry about censorship, I am also a huge fan of open source programs, so I really wouldn't have it any other way.
