This reminds me of when we use to make brooms and sale in our weekly market.
It was also called handiwork then in primary school, where you have to submit your own made broom for assessment or paying of dues.

The local brooms are no longer a rush purchase in the market, because people now live in homes they use modern brooms and mops.
So, the strength put in to produce local brooms won't yield much interest.
