The Gaming Fisherman: New World

I am Asynckronism and I am on the hunt for specific 'targeted' fish to see how difficult they are to catch and what methods will work to catch them. I follow 'local' rumors and cast in different waters to see what I reel in.

In this entry: I am following a lead on a fish called the Anmisema in Brimstone Sands. It's said to be elusive to reel in but are incredibly difficult to catch due to the locale being a desert with high level enemies around every dune, sandpit, and ruin.

Great view of a hazardous place!
I will need to stick to the roads to stay safe but the trip to the shoreline might not be paved or free from enemies. I enter Brimstone Sands through Ebonscale Reach at dusk.

I have to cross the Deadwater Wastes, a vast space with hardly any shade before I get to more temperate areas of desert.

I could take the fast travel points but I am sticking to the narrative!

I cross roaming parties of Corrupted Legionnaires and many giant scorpions but I eventually make it to the river crossing which separates the Deadwater Wastes from the temperate zones.

Looks calm but there is always another creature or enemy close by.

I make it to a shoreline but still have to take care, Any areas with water are popular spots for many creatures looking for a drink and many of them won't feel like sharing their spot with me.

I find a spot near to a ruined bridge and get to work. I equip my Fishing Gear and attach Firefly Bait, a lure that my 'guide' says the Anmisema enjoy despite it not being the right bait for the water type (Salt). I reeled in many catches but none quite what I was looking for. I kept casting in the shallows until I decided to move. I would continue using the Firefly bait at the new spot before deciding on a more water appropriate bait.

I traveled down the shore until reaching a patch covered in boulders and alligators. I weaved inbetween the seemingly patrolling creatures and went waist deep into the ocean before casting off. After 20 casts with the Firefly Bait I decided to switch to salt water bait. Glowworm bait would be my choice.

I casted further and slightly further but everything reeled in was relatively normal compared to what I was looking to find. I threw my line out so many times I got an expertise level in the Fishing profession! It doesn't give me anymore 'skill' level per-se, The expertise level rewards me with a loot chest full of fishing supplies.

Catch of the day!

I had been fishing for well over an hour and a half and my 'play time' was just about up. I relayed my failure at acquiring the Anmisema to my Fishing guide and he gave me some good advice.

He said, and I quote, "Don’t see this as a defeat—it’s just a chapter in yer story. Mark my words: the ocean remembers the patient and the persistent." - Encouragement even amidst a defeat. This venture isn't some sort of challenge, it's something I am trying out for fun and to see how this method works, traveling on foot to the area and seeing what shenanigans I get into and Gaming Photography I can capture, as a gameplay element and a goal to work towards.

If we were to keep score though just know that the waters won this round.

Until next time, 'catch' you later!
