I used the opportunity to spend the weekend hand banging the wall... yes, I was patching some excuse of a social media promotion and automation project with the help of a Pipe. No, I wasn't getting high, and it was not fun. I automated my Hive, Discord, and Twitter accounts and bungle them together so that bots do a hardcore posting and promo job while I fucking finally make a date with my bed and sleep.
I also have an n8n on my PC for all the other brilliant ideas on how to destroy the remains of my weekend.
I used a few services on Hive and because they have no pay for the stuff they do for me, I will set them as the beneficiary to a small portion of my earnings, or/and vote for them so they continue to maintain those machines.
Unlike other social media, we have a very limited number of developers who are willing to invest their time to serve us usually for FREE or for very little financial benefit. So, it is essential that we keep them around.
No, nobody paid me to say this, this is not a paid promotion. I don't take bribes and I don't drum unless I like how it sounds.
My plan was to automate a portion of my work so that I have more time for writing and commenting. No matter how I tried for the last month, I was unsuccessful to complete my daily choir list, so the only way is to somehow make some tasks easier and automated.
I even took a portion of my monthly budget to plan to acquire a dishwashing machine, because the damn pig mess takes me up to half an hour or more in total each day while we prepare meals or additionally wash dishes.
I refuse to go frugal on my cooking time because I like to cook.
Even my parrot who is usually a spoiled prick, now thinks he is in an army, so strictly demands his chunk of my time at the sunrise only when I drag my carcass to the study room.
FIRST - Schedule my own blog posts and share them on Twitter
@ecency made by @good-karma already has a posting schedule so I use that to populate my own posting timeline. There is no limit on how many posts will you schedule, and this is great as you can schedule up to a week. Ecency is extremely reliable and you can be sure it will do the job. I never had any issues.
I automated tweets and discord server notifications with the same method I use for a promotion that is further explained.
SECOND - Upvote my favorite writers and promote them on Twitter
I chose a small list of authors that I appreciate and set them on auto-vote with half of my voting power with the hive.vote made by @mahdiyari.
Then I use the RSS Hive voting feed on hiverss.com maintained by @HiveTrending with pipe which then shares the same posts on Twitter with the #HIVE tag.
Ecency also has an RSS feed, but only for user posts.
The next step, @poshtoken developed by themarkymark (correction: the new bot is developed by OCD, one developed by MM was called poshbot and included Reddit, explanation in comments) , picks up action on Twitter, and then it notifies me and an author about a tweet being made under the chosen post.
My Discord bot also picks up action completed on a pipe directly and notifies me what has been voted, when and with what voting power. The same thing happens when I manually vote on a post.
THIRD - auto-like some tweets and follow some Twitter users
I also auto-like a few tweets every few hours made from the ecency platform and I have another Discord server bot made that notifies me about that event as well. So, I know instantly what I liked there.
FOURTH - Check everything and follow the actions done with the Discord bots
In short, Discord bots are made to archive all actions both on Hive and Twitter, so everything is visible and marked.
I made it very convenient for me to see them all in one place plus I can go back to the posts and comment on the if I want something to say.
All posts are filtered so even when it is not 100% I mostly vote on stuff that I like. There is always a place for improvement.
It sounds complicated but it is fairly simple. I guess...
LIMITATIONS
My daily script calls or requests are limited to around 60 per day on social media and my voting on Hive is limited by my voting power so I can manage about maybe 20 upvotes in total manual and automated. So, this project will not produce an endless number of votes or tweets, and half of those calls are reserved for Discord notifications. 60 is counted whenever a script fires up, which means some will be empty.
It is never too great to spam because nobody really likes that. Also, the automated comments unless you have a reward bot or it is an introduction post are really trashy. That part should be manual.
I also have a mini-upvote trail which I babysit for ages hoping the dormant authors on it ( @steemrepair) will return to the community... well, hope dies the last, lol. But, I did not include it in this, because I had errors on scripts and the entire thing can fall apart just like that and I can't get to manage a hundred things at once. I would like to make a comment bot for HIVE to reward my fav posts too. I will leave those two be for a while.
