A month with the Maxus T90EV Pickup

in #cars2 months ago

We first had this on review a few weeks after it was fully registered for UK roads, and this year, we had the chance to have this on long term loan – hurrah! Having this for a full month gave us a chance to see how versatile it is. As we have a closer look at this fully electric pickup, here’s some more info on it.

Let’s start with the basics. The Maxus T90EV is priced from £49,950 (excluding VAT) and delivers the kind of practicality that both businesses and adventurers need. With a maximum payload of 1,000kg, it’s ready to take on heavy-duty tasks, whether that’s hauling equipment to a site or loading up with supplies for a weekend camping trip.

Inside, the T90EV feels roomy and well-thought-out. The neat dashboard layout and floor console maximise cabin space, creating a comfortable and uncluttered environment. Whether you’re tackling a long road trip or just running errands, the interior design ensures driver and passenger comfort.

During our loan period, we packed the T90EV to the brim on multiple occasions. From ferrying recycling and such to the tip to helping friends move bulky furniture, this electric pick-up made it all feel effortless. It’s a workhorse, but it doesn’t skimp on style or comfort.

The Maxus T90EV manages to balance its rugged, practical roots with a visually sporty design. This isn’t your average no-frills pick-up truck; it’s a head-turner. With sharp lines and a bold stance, the T90EV looks just as at home in an urban setting as it does on a muddy track.

Add to that its modern interior finish, and you’ve got a pick-up that’s not only functional but also appealing for personal use. Whether you’re driving it for work or play, the T90EV has a premium feel that elevates it above many of its competitors.

Electric vehicles often face scrutiny over range and charging times, but the T90EV stands its ground. With a maximum WLTP range of 205 miles (combined) and up to 293 miles in city driving, it’s well-suited for both urban and rural applications. While long road trips may require a bit of planning, we found the range more than sufficient for everyday use.

And when it’s time to recharge, the T90EV makes it quick and easy. Using a DC fast charger, you can go from 20% to 80% charge in just 45 minutes. This means less downtime and more time getting on with your day, whether that involves a construction project, a countryside escape, or tackling a never-ending to-do list.

The T90EV is as safe as it is practical. With driver and front passenger airbags, rear parking sensors, and a reversing camera, it’s equipped with the kind of features that make navigating tricky spaces stress-free. The inclusion of rain-sensing windscreen wipers further adds to its convenience, ensuring you’re prepared for unpredictable British weather.

We particularly appreciated the reversing camera during tight parking situations and when loading up at crowded recycling centres. These features aren’t just nice-to-haves – they make a real difference when using the T90EV day-to-day.

Whether you’re a tradesperson looking for a robust vehicle for work or someone with an active lifestyle, the Maxus T90EV delivers versatility in spades. Its ability to handle heavy loads without compromising on driving comfort is a standout feature, and the spacious interior ensures it’s family-friendly too.

During our time with the T90EV, we used it for everything from off-road adventures to road trips through winding country lanes. Its smooth ride and responsive handling made it a joy to drive, even when fully loaded. Plus, the quietness of the electric drivetrain adds an unexpected layer of refinement to the experience.

The T90EV doesn’t just cater to utility – it also lets you add personal touches to suit your needs. From protective mats and roof racks to tech upgrades, Maxus offers a range of accessories to enhance convenience and functionality. Whether you need additional storage or want to elevate the interior aesthetics, the options are there.

Having the Maxus T90EV on loan for a month allowed us to truly test its capabilities. We managed countless tip runs, tackled long-distance drives, and loaded up for weekend getaways, all while enjoying the confidence that comes with its practical design and eco-friendly electric powertrain.
Despite its rugged capabilities, the T90EV didn’t compromise on comfort or style, and the rapid charging times meant it was always ready when we needed it.

The Maxus T90EV is a game-changer in the pick-up segment, proving that going electric doesn’t mean sacrificing power, capability, or versatility. It’s perfect for those who need a reliable, hard-working vehicle but also want to make environmentally conscious choices.

With prices starting at £49,950 (ex VAT), the T90EV is a smart investment for businesses and individuals alike. Whether you’re looking for a pick-up that can handle demanding tasks or one that adds a touch of style to your daily routine, the Maxus T90EV ticks all the boxes.

Thank you all, and enjoy!
Annabelle 😊

We took one for a spin today as a test drive. We also enjoy mountain biking and kayaking, which I think the T90EV will also handle pretty well, though longer boats might be an issue for fitting in. We drove it back home to see if it would fit in our driveway and it did. Very tempted to order one.

We've had an Mg5 for awhile but sadly have had nothing but problems with it, however we have never thought it to be the cars fault per se, more the dealership.

Today's test drive was out of a different dealer based in nearby Reading.

Great video by the way, it's been fun catching up on your channel.

Thank you Nick, the prices are crazy i'm hoping for similar to the MG3 offer something 100 quid a month, I love it, i'd prefer a parking brake but like you i'd use it more for leisure, plus having a charger makes it silly cheap motoring, decent enough range too for a decent jaunt.

Yes there's a lot on the channel and there's way more to come including a heated Gilet, I now live in it, when leaving the house anyway and way more.

The MG5 a great estate and i'm gutted it's been canned, there's almost a 'we don't care or arrogance in certain dealers' it's a real shame as there motors are very good for the money and these latest especially HS are a cut above again.

Keep me posted on whether you get one, epsecially if it's a good deal, I may well follow suit.

Ben:)

I could tell you absolutely loved it and today we were rather challenged because our local dealer is doing a crazy deal on these for around £323 per month. We've never considered a pick-up before as our use for it is perhaps not the conventional one, we wouldn't use it for commercial purposes such as landscape gardening or something! We could make great us of it as a leisure vehicle, to cart our bikes and boats to different places.

Can you fit a roof rack on it I wonder? One of the kayaks is around 10ft long.

These vehicles need their own dedicated dealers, I reckon, people who care for the product and that estate cars still have their place. We've got an EV4 as a loam car at the minute, it's great but we've not been able to carry boats or bikes due to it being much smaller.

Looking forward to the heated gilet review!!!

Hi @nicklewis - do you have the MG4 on loan? We had the X-Power version, and Ben loved it.

As for the T90EV, Thule make roof racks for them, and they can carry up to 75kg, so it should be ideal for your kayak.

Annabelle 😊

OK thanks, that’s handy and yep the loan MG4 we’ve got for the moment is the long range I think. We managed to drive from here in Berkshire all the way to Llanberis not so long ago.

Wow, that's a goodly distance! Do you head up to Yr Wyddfa often?

Annabelle 😊

Ah yes, I find it easier to call it Snowdon!!! We’ve been a couple of times in the last few years but not often… might sneak up there in 2025!

So do I, to be honest, lol! Sounds like a solid plan for next year, though. I haven't been for many moons now (thanks to nerve damage from my electrocution injury, I haven't been able to go hiking)

Ben and I wish you and yours a Very Merry Christmas a Happy New Year. 😊
