New Mazda CX80 | Ultimate 7 Seater PHEV

in #cars7 days ago

Ahhh, Mazda! It’s been a very long time since we’ve driven one, or attended any of their drive days for many moons, so we were super psyched to be invited to the UK launch of their new CX-80.

After their successful launch of the CX-60, it looks like this bigger sibling is their offering in the SUV segment, and after seeing it up close, Mazda aren’t messing about.

It’s got three rows of seats, plenty of tech, and loads of safety – and in terms of where it sits in the market, it’s rather high end too. The top trim levels – Takumi and Takumi Plus - comes with white Nappa leather, a wood trim made of maple, and the Homura trims have white Nappa leather, and a sporty interior with gunmetal accents. They’ve made passenger comfort their priority, and it shows…Sweet. 😎

Another thing that Mazda has gotten right with this new launch is the powertrain, as it’s available with a 3.3L e-SkyActiv six cylinder mild hybrid diesel engine, or a 2.5L e-SkyActiv four cylinder plug in hybrid petrol engine, and all-wheel drive is standard. No matter which engine you choose, you will still get the driving experience that Mazda is known for, as they have designed this SUV to have a better weight distribution and balance, and the suspension has been tuned for comfort whilst still delivering an engaging experience for the driver – in other words, the best of both!

Design-wise, the front has that distinct Mazda styling (just check out the CX-60) and even though it’s bigger it doesn’t look bulky, even from the side. It’s spacious, beautifully designed, packed with tech and safety, and offers a compelling alternative to the likes of the Volvo XC90 or Audi Q7.

Powertrains:
2.5 litre e-Skyactiv G four cylinder Plug In Hybrid petrol engine (PHEV)
3.3 litre e-Skyactiv D six cylinder Mild Hybrid diesel engine (MHEV)

Trims and Price:
Exclusive-Line from £49,670.00
Homura from £52,820.00
Homura Plus from £55,470.00
Takumi from £53,770.00
Takumi Plus from £56,420.00

Join us as we get behind the wheel at this launch event, and as soon as we can get one on review, we will plan one of our famous road trips!

Thank you all, and enjoy!

Black and copper? Sounds like Duracell!

I didn't know they were still doing rotaries. A friend had an RX8 and some other Mazdas, so he was loyal for a while. I've never owned one.

We loved our 7 seat Zafira when the kids were young. Was very useful.

I can't think of anything else now, lol! Duracell.....that's epic.

I didn't know until the launch that Mazda still use rotaries either!

Thanks @steevc - how long did you keep the Zafira?

We had it for a good few years with about 130k on it when the fuel pump died. On that version of the diesel it was combined with the engine management unit and would cost too much to fix. It was such a practical vehicle. We had all sorts of stuff in the back.

Nice SUV but I shouldn't have read @steevc's comment, now all I see is a big battery 😀...
I like Ben he says it's cold but in a T-shirt to present this car, Super Ben.
Have a great weekend

I'm still giggling about that flippin' duracell comment!!!🤣

Ben IS hardcore when it comes to the Northern cold, but he also had his GoKozy heated gilet on too. I was frozen...

Thanks @heroldius - glad you enjoyed the review.
