A review on the Documentary - 14 Peaks

in #challenges3 years ago

This is one of the best documentary that I have seen in the recent times.
It is a real life story of a Nepali Mountain Climber - Nirmal Purja, who decides to go on a mission of climbing 14 Mountain summits which are all more than 8000 meters, in a duration of 7 months. Before him one another climber had also climbed these 14 peaks but over a duration of 16 years. Nirmal had taken this up as a challenge to do it in 7 months and he completed it before the timelines and set the most challenging world record in the world of Mountaineering.

The story is very inspiring, it makes us believe in our self-power. The Project itself is named as "Project Possible". Till the time we do not get exposed to the tough challenges we do not realize the capacity that our body has. But when it gets exposed we understand how amazing survival skills each individual has. But yes, not everyone has the courage to put themselves across through these type of challenging situations. Not everyone has the courage to keep challenging their own limits.

It is also just not about the Physical fitness when such challenges are taken up, it is also about the mental strength that one has which is much more important than physical strength in those moments.

In their journey they were faced with many challenges which were all of different nature, whether it was dealing with the Weather conditions or the Political conditions of getting permissions, every single day there was a new challenge for them. They had set backs, extreme weather conditions, avalanches and what not, but he was so determined not to give up and make his project possible a victory.

Why do people take up such major challenges. Is it for self glory or for something bigger. I feel it is not about self glory but these type of people are some rare of a kind who have so much of passion to do big things in life which are beyond a general person's imagination. These are the true heroes of life who set real time examples with their attitude.

The another thing about Nirmal's story which needs applaud is the support of his family. It is so important to have family support when you set out for missions of this magnitude. If you do not have their support, it becomes difficult to take steps. It is not only your own will power, but also the support, love and will power of your family that will help to accomplish the mission. Though he did have some emotional set backs from his mother, but he did not give up.

It is very inspiring real life story and a must watch. It is just not a story about the life in Mountains but also a story of one's will power, commitment, dedication and determination. One of the best Motivational story, It's available on Netflix. Not to be missed.

Oh, we enjoyed watching it too. His and his team's dedication to fulfill the goal is truly commendable.

So commendable really and also to understand that these Sherpas have been the guiding success behind most of the Mountain climbers. Without their help it would be extremely difficult to move up.

I have enjoyed it too... I wish it could be even longer with more details. There are lots on those trips to show and probably got cut off.

Yes, the climbing of the peaks was shown too much in hush hush, it could have been a little longer and still would have gripped the audience

I haven’t seen it but a great review and I am going to see if I can find it and watch it

It is a very motivational documentary. Makes us realize upto what extent we can challenge our own limits. Do watch it.

I will I found it on Netflix and added it to my list last night
I may well watch it today

Saw it a while back and found it a bizar documentary honestly. Some people dedicate months to climb just 1 peak and these guys are climbing them as if they are walking up a small hill in town. Really an exceptional also physical achievement as not many people will be able to ever do this.

The one thing I always wonder about if these mountaineers realize what they put they homefront through. So much drama as well with this sport

Yes, there is a lot at stake when they go on such expeditions but then that's where the world records are created. Majority of us at large live ordinary lives but some people like these make us realize our potential. A lot of risk and a lot at stake, but I believe these type of people are some altogether a different type of flesh and blood.
