A book I love made into a film that I love by a director I love! What more can be said about this classic adaption of the Roald Dahl book, grout source material adapted with style. This is my entry into the Cine TV competition of films about animals.
Film - Fantastic Mr Fox
Year - 2009
Director - Wes Anderson
► About
This is all about a family of foxes and their "war" against 3 farmers! I mean it is worth fighting for a chicken right?

► What you loved about it
The style and characterisation are brilliant. Its animation has very defined look to it that really bring the characters to life. As you may guess from this I am a big Wes Anderson fan and everything he does he brings his own take and style too. The great source material is imagined in a way that for me brings this book to life. If you start to look at the detail that the world is imagined you can sense his love of the book and how he created a world that although it is about animals and although it is animation it manages to make it feel real.
► Any scene that still pops into your mind.
The description of all the farmers stays in my mind. The simple descriptive way he gets their characters across just works. You can an absolute sense of who the foxes are dealing with in this 2 minute scene. If only some other films could introduce their characters to completely and so quickly!
► Performance of the actors/actress that left an impression.
The voice acting really works in this film and George Clooney comes across as the bold Mr Fox particularly well. However all the actors do it justice. Billy Murray and Owen Wilson are also on typically good form. Overall it the sum of its parts that makes this such a great film. The way the animation works with the actors just works on every level.
► Why do you think it's significant and great.
Only Wes Anderson could do a kids film with this kind of style and flair. Roald Dahl is a top knotch children author but over the years has been mis represented many times as the source material is often hard to imagine or to adapt with any conviction. Considering his wealth of books it is surprising there are so few films of any note based on them. For me Wes Anderson yet again creates a weird and wonderful world that is aptly fitting and through the whole film has you living and breathing fox....
