When I say file explorer, I mean whatever GUI explorer you have. For Ubuntu I believe the default is Nautilus. If you are using KDE flavor, it is Dolphin.
Both should support this syntax for accessing SMB (Samba\official Windows) shares.

Ubuntu's file explorer is just called 'Files'. When I specify the windows computer name/share and enter the password in the connection dialogue, it is unable to mount the windows share. When I try to search the network from the Windows box, it doesn't find the Ubuntu box.
I am stumped.
