I Find Recruiting To Be Misunderstood

Recruiting is Necessary

My favcorite restaurant is Cracker Barrel. Everytime I take my family to this family eatery the food is great the service is fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is a lot of fun. Imagine if they never recruited new employees, or even new customers. The process of getting new customers is a form of recruiting. The process of getting more people to work with you is recruiting. If you are like me then you can say people are my business.

Instead of recruiting let’s use the phrase Business Building. Depending on the type of business you are building, most of your income is generated by the actions of your customers. No customers no income.

KYC Know Your Customer

This is true if your business is dependent on people buying your services and products. Recruiting does not have to be some seedy back ally at midnight under a flickering street light activity. Business Building is my key activity. I really go out of my way to get to know the people that use my site.

Everyone has a story, and all of those stories have their own unique details that make them one of a kind and special. That is why I try to get my contact info out there as much as possible. I want to make it as easy as possible for people to contact me. Having conversations with people either in typed messenger chat, video conferencing, or even a simple phone call, is the fastest way to get to know people.

The Secret is in The Conversation

This may be very difficult to understand, but whatever it is you are selling right now even if it is TL2ICM (My Site); it is not for everyone. Some may think they are a perfect match to join and announce to everyone they joined and do nothing else with it ever. The best way to avoid this type of thing is to get to know your customer.

A very basic HI, how are you, and then boom let’s slide headfirst into this great opportunity, will get you accused of pyramid scheming and spamming too often. The purpose of the conversation is for you to get to know your customer and to let the customer get to know you. Think of this as a two-way interview. They are gauging whether or not you are a spammy marketer, or an "alienate your friends and family" marketer. You will surprise them by being focused on getting to know them and their situation.

BTW This Will Take More Than One Conversation

My Site Will Not Solve Everyone’s Problem

If a person is having a problem hiring a new chef my site will not help them regardless of how much money they pay. If the person I am getting to know is running a restaurant that has no interest in building a subscriber list, my hands are tied.

Finding your customers’ primary problem is mission 1. Nothing is more critical than this, even if they have money in hand wanting to buy. I do not want anyone using my site unless it solves a problem for them. Skipping the primary action of really getting to know your customer, and finding out if you can solve a problem for them will end your business building before it begins.

End Part 1

Thanks for the great insight. knowing what your customer needs seems very important.
I think marketing is turning into a way to help people . The trick is trust I think.
How do you get people to trust you. pulling seems better than pushing. But it is a fine line because people want help, they don't know where to start.
I appreciate your post a lot.

Once trust is built you can take the bull by the horns a bit more Tom. It's just nowadays the process has to be slowed down a bit to pay for the sins of the crooks/scammers.

Thanks for the great insights Rob. I need to start building my list.

Yep, that should be a priority for sure.

Very unlikely that anyone will find you without recruiting. Not like a brick-and-mortar store where people may just walkin. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Bob! Yep, I'm getting more into pull; but at the same time you just can't always sit and wait for something to happen in life and business. Go out and make it happen!

Some great info here bro thanks for sharing your insights based on your knowledge and experience have a successful day !ALIVE !CTP !PIZZA 😎

This is very insightful, if I would have had this attitude years ago I would be better off financially speaking.

Thanks, I appreciate that Chris. The financial is why most are here. Some just move to the hobbiest level which is where they find comfort. I believe the comfort actually lies somewhere within the discomfort. ;)

Great post, Rob. It is certainly a "PULL" world now in marketing. Gone are the days of "Let me tell you about my Amway business?"
People will most likely ask you about your business after you show it to them in a non-predator way.

Yep, old dogs learning new tricks but at the end of the day there is always "a bit" of pushing involved.
