The dCity project is chuggin along on the chain, slowly but surely. There haven’t been any significant updates like a new token or a new series of cards, but there have been small tweaks mainly about how citizens are issued in game, then new combined cards etc. A few months back, there has been a 100 days of giveaways for the players holding one million SIM, and occasionally there are some perks these days as well for the SIM millionaires.
The project remains sound with more than 50k USD liquidity for the SIM token, attractive LP rewards (more than 50% everything combined) for the pool and cards that hold their value at decent levels.

For those not familiar with the game, dCity is a city simulator game where players are buying NFTs in form of a cards, that represent buildings and then try to optimize their city production.
Players are rewarded with the in-game token SIM on a daily basis based on their city production. The top 400 players are rewarded with HIVE based on their ranking on the leaderboard. SIM holders are also rewarded in HIVE for holding SIM.
Here we will be looking into the following:
• Cards issued by date
• Cards issued by player
• SIM and HIVE rewarded to players
• SIM Issued
• Cards buying
• Top earners
The period that we will be looking here is from the start of the game, February 2020 till April 2023.
Cards Bought
Here is the chart of the cards bought from players directly from the game.
The spikes in the chart are usually when new editions of cards are put in circulation. The highest has been at the end of 2020 when the second edition came out. The third edition was in April 2021. We can see some spikes again in April 2022.
In the lat period the mount of cards bought, and SIM spent for this has been relatively low
On average there is around 200 cards minted daily in 2023.
The chart above doesn’t include cards like immigrants, homeless, students and the other citizens cards that players get randomly. No tech cards as well.
The monthly chart looks like this.
This represents a bit clearer view. We can see the uptrend up to April 2022 and in the last months there are much smaller numbers for cards minted per month. On average 5k cards bought per month in 2023.
Cards Issued by Player
Here is the chart for the top 20 players that purchased cards in 2023.
@morzex is on the top followed by @dwhobart.
SIM Issued
How about printing SIM? Here is the chart.
SIM printing happens occasionally when the @dcitygame is out of funds. Usually, a lot of SIM is being recirculated. When someone buys cards with SIM it is then used to reward the players.
We can see that there has been no printing since October 2022 and then a small amount of 12M SIM was printed in April.
The chart for the supply looks like this.
The last big emission of SIM was back in August 2022, when more than 100M was issed at once, and then a bit more in September an October. Since then the supply for SIM has been flat, with a small increase in April 2023.
At the moment of writing this there is 625M SIM in circulation.
SIM Rewarded
Even with no printing SIM the game rewards players with its token. The amounts have been lower because of the high taxes but still there is SIM rewarded to players.
Here is the chart for the monthly SIM rewards.
We can see that the rewards has dropped significantly since the ATH in January 2021 when more than 150M SIM was rewarded to players in a month.
In the last months, the monthly SIM rewards are on average around 20M, or around 600k daily.
How about SIM spent?
The chart for SIM spent in game looks like this:
This is very similar to the chart for issued cards.
We can see that the amount of SIM spent in the game in the last months is quite low when compared to the previous years.
SIM Rewarded VS SIM Spent
When we net out the two charts we get this:
This is basically showing how much SIM didn’t go back in the game and players hold it. SIM has multiple functions now, like electing president, lobing for rewards distributions, holding rewards and liquidity providers rewards.
In the last two months, March, and April 2023 there is around 8M excess SIM on a monthly level. Compared to the supply this is a low amount.
The Top SIM Earners
Here is the chart for the top SIM earners in the period.
@steemshiro is on the top here, followed by @armero.
HIVE Rewards
The game is rewarding players in HIVE as well.
At first these rewards were distributed on a weekly basis and afterwards on daily basis. 50% of the cards sales goes into the reward pool, and 0.5% of that is distributed daily to players. There are holdings rewards for the SIM token as well.
Here is the chart.
The orange is the SIM holding rewards, and the white, ranking rewards.
We can see that the holding rewards have overtaken the ranking rewards for HIVE. On average around 250 HIVE is distributed daily.
Top HIVE Earners
Here is the chart for the top HIVE earners in the last 30 days.
@d-pend on the top followed by @steemshiro.
Both, ranking and holding rewards are included in the above.
SIM Price
How about the SIM price?
Here is the chart
A more than one year period on the chart above. The price is in HIVE.
The game accepts the SIM token for buying cards at 200 SIM to 1 HIVE (0.002), each card bought from the game is selling for 4 HIVE or 800 SIM.
We can see from the chart that the SIM token has been trading in the range from 0.0006 to 0.0003 HIVE in the last two years.
A reminder that as the token price drops, the SIM tax increases, and less SIM is rewarded to players. When the token price increases, more SIM printing is put in place and more rewards are distributed.
Overall we can see that the game has slowed down with less cards being bough but less SIM inflation as well. The price has been slowly going down, but still holding value. The SIM pool remains liquid with more than 50k USD in the pool that makes it the biggest pool on Hive Engine outside the Splinterlands ecosystem.
All the best
