SAME OLD WAY, NOTHING NEW (CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION)…

I think it’s high time we corrected this long existing notion that Christmas must be celebrated in a grand manner. If this notion is not corrected now, then we will be having a much bigger problems to deal with in the near future, and when that happens, we will be responsible for the consequences…

When it comes to the celebration of any festivities, i always make sure I’m in my right frame of mind when dealing with the expenses involved, the reason for this is to make sure nothing goes wrong with my budget, and that is why most of the time, festivities like christmas, new year and easter are always celebrated in a low-key manner, having a couple of close friends come join my family and i in the celebration is my definition of low-key, and if the worst happens I either just treat the day like every normal day or i just celebrate with my family and move on, no long cap…

Moving on, today is 27th of December, which means Christmas was celebrated two days ago. When it comes down to how I celebrated my Christmas two days ago, I will say i did nothing special the whole day, the fact is that this particular Christmas happened to be the most different one in all my years of celebrating Christmas…

Christmas didn’t Christmas at all for me for over a thousand and one reasons, one of the reasons being because of the situation of the country, the price of goods is now something we can’t comprehend not control, it is either we buy or we starve, our economy has reshaped our initial budget, which is why few of us, if not most of us chose to either celebrate this year’s Christmas in a low-key way, or we don’t even celebrate it at all…

THE WAY I HAVE ALWAYS CELEBRATED CHRISTMAS…

For real, celebrating Christmas in a grand manner has not really being a thing in my family, we don’t do more than ourselves, we eat what we have, and most of the times we get foods, drinks and chicken delivered to us by some long distant friends every Christmas day. Food are always very surplus on Christmas day, and mostly non of these meals are made by us. There’s jollof rice, fried rice and pounded yam, this has always been our usual way of celebrating Christmas…

This year’s celebration was a bit different, there was no rice delivered to our house neither did we get drinks, this was because the family that usually does this has relocated to the farther place. I have never hundred percent celebrated Christmas at home with my family, i mostly celebrate with other families in their house, that’s how i do, i only come back in the evening…

This year didn’t seem to be any different, I went to the other house after church and was basically there all day before going to meet up with my friends. We went out, got some food and came back home, nothing major…

In summary, the fact that i and my families are alive is the greatest celebration ever, we don’t have to kill different animals to prove that. We are alive and well, that’s enough, if we don’t eat rice on Christmas, we will eat it on the first day of the year…

In conclusion, Christmas is over, and to those who have resulted to loans just to make this celebration grand, congratulations to you lots. I await the drama that might unfold in the next couple of days, until then compliment of the season…

NB; this is my entry to the Inleo daily prompt day 25, it’s titled christmas . You shouldn’t miss out on this, hop on it now!!!
