5000 years ago in the days of Steem, I started a discord channel. It was a time when every channel was overflowing with rude snarkiness and ass kissing. Mountains of people piled into post-promo rooms to dump their posts without even bothering to flush. Steem was a bit meaner than Hive, and a lot less dynamic. Most channels smelled pretty bad.
But ours smelled like flowers, and it was called Deep Shit. Actually the server was called Be Awesome.
Later I started Cross culture and tried to create a separate discord community. It was difficult to manage both, especially with everything else I am doing, and so the Cross Culture discord died. The Hive community remains but the discord is basically dead.
Be Awesome (Deep Shit) remains but it’s been the same 6-12 active people there for years now.
A few days ago I was thinking of reviving the Cross Culture discord and letting it also serve as a community for my podcast, Untangled Knots, which is also very much about Cross Culture.
Yesterday I floated the idea with the members of Be Awesome, and one of them suggested I merged all three to make things easier on myself and to finally get some new faces in the room we’ve been hanging out in for a million years.
Everyone agreed.
And so, Be Awesome will take over as the new Cross Culture discord, AND as the community chat for my podcast.
The philosophy of Be Awesome is that selfishness and selflessness cancel each other out when we see ourselves as interconnected. We help ourselves to help others and help others to help ourselves. We will always seek for win/win/win situations.
Something like that.
We are a creative bunch and are pretty friendly. We welcome serious or ridiculous, as long as you like having pleasant interactions with others and don’t disrespect other members. Also Do not join if you just plan on post promoting. The purpose of our chat is to make real relationships. If someone asks for your hive username, they’ll see your posts.
