I like this question, I'm half tempted to do an article on it and elaborate more. Perhaps show other items I considered. Anyways I go with stuff I actually own: my buck knife which has a fire starter, a #8 cast iron pan, and a medium axe. My philosophy is to enjoy myself a little bit than build something for my departure.

Nice! You could do a serious article about survival in just that situation. As long as you can build a fire, boil water, build a shelter, and find food you would be living a like a king until you can build a nice boat!

Exactly I gave some good thought about my choices. I wanted to make it a little challenging and pick things that I could use for multiple things. I believe what I have chosen would full fill all the eccentials. I would also utilize things in my environment as well. I have roughed it out before but with a little more than 3 things though, haha.
