I wanted to tell you about a very nice and special restaurant that I found once while walking around San Rafael, Mendoza.
I was in the beautiful province of love and wine and we were looking for a place to buy food to take back to the apartment where we were staying with friends for a week when we went to visit this province and drink some wine in the wineries there. When we went out to look for a rotisserie to see what we could buy we asked at a kiosk and they told us about a place where they make very good food, to sit and eat but they didn't know if there was any take away food that we could ask there. So they gave us the address and we went to meet them.
When we arrived we found a gate of a house, with a small red awning that distinguished it and denoted that it was not a house. Clearly it was not a house because on the front it said the name of the place and with a great name: Alantojo, the cook's name. We rang the doorbell and they answered immediately and invited us in. We asked them if they had take away, and they told us that they don't sell anything for take away but to look at the menu and they showed us 3 dishes that they could make for us to take away and it could taste good when we arrived, so that's when they caught us in their nets. When we started to read the menu we looked at each other and said “we'll stay here to eat” and that's what we did.
We said automatically, we'd better stay for lunch so we could try other things. We sat down and ordered a very rich and young white wine, and from there we chose some sweetbreads that came with salad and had a special flavor because they were marinated in honey soy and something else that I can't remember, a delight. We shared it to try everything and at the same time we ordered some rice torrejas accompanied with grilled salmon and some leaves on top. There were about 4 dishes that we ordered, there is one that is in the photos but I can't remember what it was, something like a risotto but I don't remember what.
Marinated and with so much food it was beautiful. The place was very cozy and familiar because it is literally a house. I thought it was great the simplicity of the place and how good everything was in that place. Every time I can I confirm it and as the song says Luxury is vulgarity.
We had an amazing time and ate and drank like a great place. We were so happy and we had such a good time with the owners that we went every day for dinner and we also went out together. Now we keep in touch with the kids and when they come to the city we see each other or they stay at home depending on the occasion. How nice it is when everything surprises you and you meet new people.

Les quería contar sobre un restaurante muy rico y especial que encontré una vez de paseo por San Rafael, Mendoza.
Estaba por la hermosa provincia del amor y del vino y andábamos buscando donde comprar comida para llevar al departamento en donde estábamos parando con amigos una semana que nos fuimos a visitar esta provincia y tomar unos vinitos en bodegas por allá. Cuando salimos a buscar una rotisería para ver que podíamos comprar preguntamos en un kiosco y nos comentaron de un lugar en donde hacen comida muy buena, para sentarse a comer pero no sabían si había para llevar que podíamos preguntar ahí. Así fue que nos paso la dirección y fuimos a su encuentro.
Cuando llegamos nos encontramos con un porton de una casa, con un pequeño toldito de color rojo que lo distinguia y denotaba que no era una casa. Claramente no lo era porque además en el frente decía el nombre del lugar y con un nombre genial: Alantojo, del cocinero. Tocamos el timbre y nos atendieron enseguida y nos invitaron a pasar. Les preguntamos si tenían para llevar, y nos dijo que no venden nada para take away pero que miraran la carta y nos mostraron 3 platos que nos lo podían hacer para que llevemos y podía saber bien cuando lleguemos, entonces fue ahí cuando nos atrapó en sus redes. Cuando empezamos a leer la carta nos miramos y dijimos acá nos quedamos a comer no? y eso hicimos.
Le dijimos automáticamente, mejor nos quedamos a comer así probamos otras cosas. Nos sentamos y pedimos un blanco muy rico y joven, y de ahí elegimos unas mollejas que venían con ensalada y tenían un sabor especial porque estaban marinadas en soja miel y algo más que no me acuerdo, una delicia. Se lo compartimos para probar todo y al mismo tiempo pedimos unas torrejas de arroz acompañadas con salmón a la plancha y unas hojas por arriba. Hubo como 4 platos que pedimos, hay una que está en las fotos pero no puedo recordar que era, algo así como un risotto pero no me acuerdo de que.
Marinados y con tanta comida fue una hermosura. EL lugar era recontra acogedor y familiar porque literalmente es una casa. Me pareció genial la simpleza del lugar y lo bien que estaba todo en ese lugar. Cada vez que puedo lo confirmo y como dice la canción el Lujo es vulgaridad.
Demostradisimo que no la pasamos increíble y comimos y bebimos como un gran lugar. Quedamos tan contentos y pegamos tanta buena onda con los dueños que fuimos todos los días a cenar y además pasamos alguna salida juntos también, Ahora con los chicos quedamos en contacto y cuando vienen a la ciudad nos vemos o se quedan en casa según la ocasión. Que lindo es cuando te sorprende todo y conoces gente nueva.
