Rasbhari/Cape Gooseberry Juice

in #food3 years ago

Hello Foodies!

Rasbhari, also known as Cape Gooseberry, is a popular fruit that is available at this time of the year (at least in India). They are tangy in taste and a rich source of Vitamin C. They taste amazing as a fruit but I usually like to consume them as a drink. My mom used to make this when I was a child because back then I didn't like it so much. So I have developed the taste of it as a drink rather than a fruit.

I made the same drink for Raag today, reliving my childhood. He, as always, loved it!

Let’s see what I got today.

Method to prepare the dough

Step 1: Remove the outer cover of the berries and add them to a pressure cooker (after washing offcourse). Add about 200ml of water and sugar. Pressure cook it for about 5-7 minutes and turn off the flame.
Step 2: Once the steam settles, open the pressure cooker and allow the berries to cool down. Now use an electric blender to crush the berries in the water.
Step 3: Strain the liquid in a bowl.
Step 4: To the bowl, add the black salt and roasted cumin powder and 1 Cup of water. Mix well.

Serve the juice cold with crushed ice and feel the tangy taste in your drink! Have fun!
