This is a post in response to @allisonmckinney’s question, “If you were to become an entrepreneur what would be the best form of promotion for you?”
My personal plan for my future is to develop and run my own agritourism business attraction. I hope to have orchards, a pumpkin patch, a petting zoo, and Airbnb cabins. With a goal of education and conservation, I hope to teach and impact the perspectives of all who come to visit. This world has become so busy and fast-paced, I aspire to create a sanctuary for people to slow down, relax, and enjoy the simpler things in life. We all need a break sometimes, and I think agriculture is attractive for all ages, and the perfect way to leave the hustle and bustle of city life. Of course, there will be an aspect of economic gain within the family business that my boyfriend and I create, but it will not be the main source of income in our household. Blaine is currently working towards his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, which will help fund our family farm escapades. From this point in time, I believe that market entrepreneurship will be the best form of promotion for us because our goal is to open a business and achieve success in the free market. The other option would be political entrepreneurship, with I currently do not see as beneficial for us. Political entrepreneurs usually partner with the government to benefit themselves and hinder the competition. Although this style of business model may be very helpful in some agricultural companies – like John Dutton in the TV series “Yellowstone” – I do not think that we will need to take part in that type of business to achieve success. Honestly, when people participate in political entrepreneurship my first opinion is that there is some sort of shady business going on and it is not very fair.
