Good morning to all the #hivefood community. I am once again pleased to make an appearance to bring you my participation in the initiative proposed by hiver @mariale07 named: "Celebrating the International Day of Bread" 🥖🍞 Next, I will tell you a little about my experience with bread.

When I was a little girl, my dad used to make us homemade pizzas. I remember that my dad used to say that the tricks for a good pizza were to put the yeast in warm water, knead very well with your hands and let the dough rest covered with a cloth in a dark place. This is the little I remember of his recipe. Even in my college days I remember making some basic pizzas with tomato sauce, ham, mozzarella cheese, onion and green peppers at a good friend's house and his dad was delighted. I quote: "I hadn't eaten a good pizza in years". It's not the toppings, people. A good crust and a delicious sauce is the secret to a good pizza.

When I lived in Venezuela, besides selling brownies, I also made and sold powdered cookies and pastries filled with cheese, chicken, ground beef and pizza-type fillings. My husband helped me prepare the dough because he was stronger for the kneading and I made the delicious fillings. My younger sister helped us with the sales at the company she worked for and everything sold like hotcakes. Thank God!

Just yesterday I got to thinking that belonging to this #hivefood community and not recreating any recipes is like not belonging. I know how important it is for a person to get credit and I love the easy and practical recipes. I was feeding my baby one morning and I caught the recipe for chicken powder from my friend @josecarrerag. In my case, I prepared the chicken differently because I didn't have all the ingredients listed by my friend @josecarrerag but I used the following: marinated chicken, diced red peppers and onions, sweet paprika, salt and nutmeg to taste. I also added slices of fried plantain and a good sprinkling of mozzarella cheese, oh my goodness! So much goodness in this recipe. I highly recommend it 👌❤️ I give it 20 points.

In all the bakeries in Tenerife you can find an infinity of varieties of bread. The one we buy the most at home is the baguette type 🥖 when we want to eat some choripanes or simply a sandwich of Serrano ham with gouda cheese and jam. It sounds crazy but it is a delicious combination. It's the closest thing we have to a Venezuelan canilla. We also like to buy sliced bread for breakfast, hamburger bread and hot dogs. But I must confess that the one we like the most is a milk bread from a supermarket chain called Hiperdino. It is far from resembling Venezuelan milk bread but it is divine. We eat it with fresh cheese or with a spread of margarine.

I like to recreate recipes and ham bread is my weakness 😍🥖 A few days after I emigrated to Tenerife in December 2019, I called my godmother and asked her for her recipe and made my first ham bread. Then I made two more at Christmas 2020 for the Canarian family I worked for. I wanted them to try one of the Venezuelan Christmas dinner side dishes 🇻🇪 and they were delighted. I had to make one for December 24 and another one for January 6, the day of kings.
