Greetings to all of you, I hope you are all well. Today at 5 am I got up to prepare breakfast for my children and myself and as a good Venezuelan mother it is obvious that I would make a good arepa. From early on everyone at home gets active, preparing to start the day with joy and well eaten hehehe...Arepa with oatmeal stuffed with butter, cheese and ham.
- Harina pan, 3 tazas.
- Queso Blanco rallado al gusto.
- Jamón en lonjas.
- Mantequilla al gusto.
- Agua para su preparación.
- Sal al gusto.
The ingredients are the following:
- Corn flour 3 cups.
- Grated white cheese to taste.
- Sliced ham.
- Butter to taste.
- Water for preparation.
- Salt to taste.
Primero:
Como buena venezolana uso la harina de maíz, marca PAN. Esta la coloqué en un bol plástico las tres tazas de harina. Seguidamente la sal y tres puños de avenas en hojuelas, mezclo todo muy bien y luego voy al paso dos. Las arepas venezolanas son versátiles y se pueden hacer a la creatividad o necesidad de cada quien.
First:
As a good Venezuelan I use corn flour, PAN brand. I placed the three cups of flour in a plastic bowl. Segundo:
Mientras amaso la mezcla de harina de maíz con avena y agua, el budare esta engrasado y listo para echar las arepas. Yo la hago suave de manera que la pueda estirar en el budare y que se vea como una grana arepa. Dejo cocinar el tiempo prudente que se vea dorada y volteo.
Second:
While I knead the corn flour mixture with oats and water, the budare is greased and ready to add the arepas. I make it soft so that I can stretch it on the budare and make it look like a big arepa. I let it cook for as long as it looks golden and turn it over.
Tercero:
Para los que no sepan que es un budare, es una plancha metálica echa para hacer arepas y cachapas, aunque yo he preparado pollo a la plancha, pescados y sardinas a la plancha, carne y otras proteínas en esta plancha. Se usa solo el aceite para engrasarlo y que no se pegue nada, el resultado es fantástico como mi arepa en esta foto.
Third:
For those who don't know what a budare is, it is a metal griddle made to make arepas and cachapas, although I have prepared grilled chicken, grilled fish and sardines, meat and other proteins on this griddle. Only the oil is used to grease it so that nothing sticks, the result is fantastic like my arepa in this photo.
Cuarto:
Luego que las arepas estén doradas, bien cocidas al punto de sentirlas crocantes, las llevamos a un plato y en el abrimos con cuidado (recuerden que esta muy caliente) añadimos este relleno seleccionado para hoy: mantequilla, queso blanco y jamón. Por supuesto, hay muchos rellenos para las arepas como carne mechada, pollo mechado combinado con ensalada y aguacate, queso amarillo, salchichas, pepitonas, sardinas, huevo cocido, frito o revuelto y las opciones son casi infinitas. Es un desayuno real y bien cargado.
