DOD Supra Distortion My First Pedal Ever EP01

in #hive-1001623 years ago

Hello guitars! I have decided to make a series of posts describing each pedal that I had in my life and that I used (I had many that I did not use). This is episode 1, where I will talk about the first pedal I had, it is the DOD Supra Distortion FX55-B. It is a distortion pedal that can go from smooth to rock and maybe with the right amp and guitar I can get a sound close to metal.

Hola guitarras!

It is a pedal made in the USA in the 90's by DOD (today Digitech), it had 3 controls, level, tone, dist, in the dist control it had a booster at the end of the travel, it used 9v battery or current, its casing was made of metal and the plastic switch that seems quite delicate but the truth never gave any problems.

I bought this pedal when I was a little over 1 year old learning to play, in July 1994 more or less, I remember that for me it didn't matter if I played blues or pantera, the pedal gave me distortion and since it was what I did at that time I cared about it. It is not a pedal that I would buy again, the truth is that it is quite noisy and for the music that I play it is not useful to me, but at that time there was no youtube or any internet platform where you could check any product, it was "buy and try ", not bad to start but today there are better options with better features.

As I learned, I bought more pedals that progressively improved my tone, even along with this one that I describe here.... stay tuned for the next episodes.

A medida q fui aprendiendo fui comprando mas pedales q mejoraron mi tono progresivamente, incluso junto con este q describo aquí.... estén pendiente de los próximos episodios.

Sort:

Siempre quise probar esos pedales pero nunca tuve chance de conseguirlos en buenas condiciones :(

tuve varios dod unos eran bastante buenos

No fui fan de tocar con pedal, soy más tradicional de guitarra y amplicaficador, pero de escucharlo en los diferentes composiciones si me encanta.

I think most rock guitarists start off wanting some sort of distortion to make a big noise, but you gradually learn that good tone is about more than that. It's amazing how many variations there are on distortion pedals now. Do you still have this one?

You're right, as time goes by we gain experience and discover the tone we want based on what we have in mind. I no longer have this pedal as I was learning I realized that it was not what I was looking for.

I tried making a distortion pedal many years ago, but it was not very good. I am sure there are lots of circuit designs out there that would be better. It is probably one of the simpler effects to DIY. I have a modified Boss DS-1 that a friend gave me. That can make some nice tones.

I have never tried to modify a pedal, much less design it, but I would like to, I have no knowledge and I would have to do it with a very cheap pedal to start with and not be afraid of damaging anything

The people doing V2K want me to believe it is this lady @battleaxe Investigate what she has been up to for 5 years. Its the next step to stopping this. Make her prove where she has been for 5 years or where she is now. She is involved deeply with @fyrstikken and his group. Her discord is Battleaxe#1003. I cant say she is the one directly doing the v2k. Make her prove it. They have tried to kill me and are still trying to kill me. I bet nobody does anything at all. Make @battleaxe prove it. I bet she wont. They want me to believe the v2k in me is being broadcasted from her location. @battleaxe what is your location? https://ecency.com/fyrstikken/@fairandbalanced/i-am-the-only-motherfucker-on-the-internet-pointing-to-a-direct-source-for-voice-to-skull-electronic-terrorism
