I was unusually swamped by a series of expected & unexpected tasks today. There were things to do, places to visit, and people to talk to. That's why I prepared a short post with only one insect.
But the insect I'm relaying on today is cute and fuzzy, a very memorable little arthropod. It's probably the closest thing to a six-legged buzzing teddy bear I'm aware of.
This is a fly from the Bombyliidae family. Flies from that family are commonly known as bee flies. Some of them have this very adorable and kinda cartoonish appearance. When it comes to the exact species, I'm pretty sure (but not completely sure) that this is the Bombylius minor.
The photographs shown here were taken long ago. In 2009.
