After a really short winter break, the football is already back with 4 mid-week cup matches. 2 of them will be played today
Club Brugge vs OH Leuven
Club Brugge at the end of last year has been solid but not impressive in the league while they managed to up their game in the Champions League matches. Their trend is that they tend to dominate the match and sooner than later take the lead which puts them at the top of the 1H standings while they don't always keep pushing and at times make it difficult for themselves at the end while still winning. They also are as good as complete today and I do expect that they will just play their A-Squad. OHL hasn't really changed too much under their new coach mostly playing ok being secure defensively but lacking offensively. Today they are without Verstraete who is their 'cleaner' in the midfield and he is important to the team. It's also a cup match which is different than a league game but I expect Club Brugge to once again take all the initiative and take the lead somewhere in the 1st half already. I took a cautious 0.16 unit pre-game bet on
Club Brugge 1st Half -0.5 @ 1.970 which feels just about worth the risk. This also leaves options to possibly take an extra bet on Club Brugge at a more favorable line if they are not in the lead at HT or if they fall behind.
Stvv vs Genk
Stvv did well right after Mazzu became coach but kind of had a fall back after with 4 losses and 2 draws in their last 6 matches which puts them back in a playdown spot. These last 6 matches included a home 2-2 draw against Genk in a match that started out with a long study round as Stvv opted to defend. Only after 21 minutes the match became more open and a deflected ball caused the 0-1 which was flattering. In the 2nd half it was only Stvv and they made the deserved 1-1. Genk went more offensively while stvv coach opted for a defensive sub still making the 2-1 while very late the 2-2 came. That was also the best match stvv played all season. Genk after the great start of the season hasn't fully confirmed and I understand why they are only the -0.25 favorite today. However, the recent form of stvv is a bite worrying also. Oftentimes you can see who will win based on the bench which just is far more impressive for Genk who have all players that easily could be in the A-Squad. I do expect once again a defensive-minded stvv which makes me lean on the 1H Genk corners which last time they won with 2-4. Unfortunately that is not offered at the moment. Last time the open line was set at -0.75 @ 1.910 for Genk while right now it's -0.25 @ 2.053 which feels a bit too big of a gap. I did take a cautious bet of 0.16 units on
Genk +0 @ 1.744 with an option to take more in-game. I also took a small 0.14 units position on
1H Under 1.25 @ 1.807 as I once again don't expect a wide open start. I will most likely hedge out of it in case there is no early goal.
