Yesterday ended with a small profit which I can't complain about as there was a surprise result. I continue to be very cautious going into Sunday where there are 3 matches as usual
Club Brugge vs Sint-Truiden
Club Brugge remains a highly unreliable team under Hayen while they should win most of their matches easily with dominance based on the squad they have. Yet with generally soft lines based on their quality, they are just 4W-7L-3P against their asian handicaos quality bad at home compared to away. They are coming of a 2-2 draw against the worst team in the league after once again playing a strong 1st half giving it away by not pushing for more. So I expect this trend to somewhat continue as long as Hayen is there. The combination of opponents not performing along with some Champions League matches where they did show good things despite giving it away still has him in place. They are without Nilsson which is their main striker and Meijer along with Vetlesen who are players close to the A-Squad are injured. Stvv after Mazzu was assigned have clearly improved their form and are now just outside of the danger zone. They have crushed the asian handicaps with 5W-1L-2¨P under their new coach and also have been under at home and over away while also having nearly all matches go to 10+ corners. In week 11 they had an away match against Genk which is the main reference for this one. That match ended in a 3-2 loss even though Stvv coach mazzu clearly was taking defense before the game. A red card in minute 15 and the 1-0 coming soon after however screwed the under up. In that match, the odds shifted quite quickly toward the under and I'm kind of anticipating a similar dynamic. This despite the fact that both stvv and Brugge over the last 3 matches are the highest teams in xg created. At the same time, both don't give that much xg away. So I took rather cautious pre-game positions of 0.15 units on
Under 3 @ 2.032 / 0.131 units on
1H Under 1.25 @ 1.973, and 0.016 units on
1H Under 1 @ 2.644 . This with the option to increase with 0.1 units in case the odds go up and the intention to trade out of it if there is no early goal. Maybe if Club Brugge takes the lead it might be an option to take a small bet on Stvv on the handicap.
Standard vs Cercle Brugge
Both these teams had a big loss in week 14 with Standard losing 5-0 away against AA Gent and Cercle Brugge losing 0-5 at home against Anderlecht. The performance of Standard was way worse however compared to Cercle who mainly had a scoring problem as Denkey was away for a transfer that he eventually made. From what I know he will stay in Cercle for some time and the question mainly is if he plays free now or with fear to avoid an injury. Standard is still without Bates and Ngoy who are both defenders while Cercle is without Ravych & Diakaté who are also defenders. So 2 teams who generally don't score that easily but at the same time aren't always that secure defensively unless they really play that style. Lots of variables in this match with Denkey, the Standard goalkeepers, possible strategy switches back to full defense, ... I'm always looking to oppose Standard when they are the favorite which is the case today. I did take a very cautious 0.1 unit bet on
Cercle Brugge +0.25 @ 1.791 with an eye to possibly take a bit more.
Genk vs Charleroi
Genk was looking untouchable until they got absolutely trashed away against Union who brought more energy and were sharper overall. It wasn't bad for them to be put back with their feet on the ground and I don't expect this to lead to a reversal. Genk remains the best playing team in the league and I assume it was mostly the style of play from Union that put them in trouble. They are complete today and can play with their best team hile they also have a ton of quality on the bench. Charleroi had been in a losing streak which they broke with a narrow 1-0 win against a poor Westerlo. I do see a scenario where Charleroi is going to play on the counter and where Genk overall should just have too much quality. I took 0.1 unit bets each on
Genk -0.75 @ 1.833 /
Genk 1H -0.25 @ 1.856 /
Genk Team Total Over 1.75 @ 1.880. Charleroi also tends to get tired near the end of matches which is something that might make me take some extra in-game late in the match.
