Cercle Brugge vs Genk
Cercle Brugge this season so far looks weaker compared to last year. This because a combination of not all players being at peak level (like Denkey who failed to make a transfer), The fatigue from the extra European matches, Opponents who got more used to their play style finding solutions, some injuries, ... This now has gotten them in 14th place with 1 match less played while on average getting 2 goals against while last year the under were their strong point. In the last match against Club Brugge they looked too vulnerable in defense and the hot weather conditions weren't in their favor as their style is too intense. The fact that there was an international break while the weather is much more favorable now should help them today. Overall, Cercle remains a team I look to oppose this season and possibly bet overs on. Their xg this season is 3.78 combing 1.68 for and 2.1 goals against. Genk on the other hand after a hesitating start now took 3 wins in a row and I see them as a possible contender since they don't have the European Matches fatigue/focus issue. They took a deserved narrow win at home against Westerlo in week 6 and the combined xg in their last 3 matches is 3.55. Overall I just don't expect a closed down match with Genk as the team less likely to lose. I'm however not willing to take any gambled on the current lines and odds so I will just wait it out to see if I get some confirmation or better odds before possibly taking something.
No Pre-Game Bets
Kortrijk vs Club Brugge
Club Brugge finally showed their true potential in the 1st half last match against Cercle Brugge totally dominating and being dangerous. I stick to the theory that on paper they are just exponentially stronger compared to the competition in the league while the main question remains how much they want it. I de see it more likely today that they show up as Kortrijk so far rather disappointed me. They are 13th in the standings and from the looks of it, they will have another year where it's a fight against relegation. They overall have been the 2nd worst 1H team while Club Brugge leads that ranking. I took 0.3 units on
Club Brugge 1st Half -0.5 @ 1.991 which for me are odds worth the risk. Brugge however is a team that still gets chances against and they needed a good Mignolet in the match against Cercle. It is not unlikely for Club Brugge to once again not push when in the lead and go on control and economy with and eye on the upcoming European match.
Anderlecht vs Westerlo
Anderlecht didn't really get the needed enforcement in the transfer winson aside from Dendoncker who will replace Rits as defensive midfielder. Vertonghen is injured while Dolberg is questionable leaving them with a team that isn't really better compared to what they were before the international break. While they are in the lead after 6 weeks with 1 match played less, this is fully due to keeping the luck on their side along with the experience they have. Overall though, the level of play hasn't been that good clearly lacking creativity in the midfield. Westerlo started the season great and spectacular but things already seem to have reverted to the mean as they really feel the fact that Madsen and Stassin left. Against Genk it was a very under 1H with Westerlo playing on the counter so there doesn't seem to be that much left from the high goal Westerlo team of the first weeks. I'm expecting a similar approach today with Anderlecht having the initiative while lacking the creativity in the 1st half to really create tons of danger. I took a rather cautious 0.25 unit bet on
1H Under 1.25 @ 1.891. I'm also tempted by the -0.25 line on the home team if it would go higher as they tend to find a way to win matches while Westerlo seems a bit overrated based on their first games with Madsen and Stassin.
