I don't know about you, my dear reader, but I really like it when the Olympics come around. I greatly appreciate any type of historical tradition and even more so involving hundreds of sports in the same place. In this year's edition, it will be in the wonderful city of Paris, France. The date is very close, it will start on July 26th and end on August 11th.
I never had the chance to follow it closely, despite how much I wanted to. Even when the Games took place here in Brazil in 2016, I couldn't go, but I always watched the Olympics on TV. I remember that in the edition that took place in Rio, I was in my first year of college studying Physical Education and at the time a lot of volunteers were being asked for the organization.
I find it fascinating and for anyone who had some kind of experience in school games as a youth, they undoubtedly have an idea of what something close to organizing the Games would be like. It would be very interesting to find a hiver who has already participated in the Olympics. Certainly any athlete, even if they are unable to obtain a medal, just the fact of having participated is already a huge achievement.
As in any edition, there will always be new things, modalities introduced for the first time and of course, innovative technologies to give the event an increasingly “modern” and “innovative” feel. The Paris edition will be no different. That's why for those who are anxiously waiting, I will bring here in the article 5 interesting facts about the Olympics for this edition that will begin soon. Hope you like it.
1 – A Piece of Iron from the Eiffel Tower Will Be Present in All Medals
I have no doubt that any athlete will do everything possible to obtain a medal, but a very interesting fact could provide another important motivation: for each gold, silver or bronze medal there will be 18 grams of iron from the Eiffel Tower. Yes, that most famous magnificent monument in France.
You must be wondering how this would be possible, right? Well, know that the Eiffel Tower was built on March 31, 1889, from that time until today, the monument needed to do some renovations and as a result, some pieces were saved and now used in the medals that can be seen in the center of each of them.
2 – Surfing will not take place in Paris.
The city does not have a sea, as it is in the north of France, but the games will feature surfing. This is not the first time that this sport has been included in the Olympics, the first edition was in Tokyo, Japan in 2020.
For surfing to take place, it will be held in Tahiti, on the traditional beach of Teahupo'o. It is quite famous for its giant waves and will be a great environment for athletes to compete and find their perfect wave to win their medal.
3 – Ceremony Will Not Be Traditional
July 26th, as we already know, will be the opening date of the next edition and will break a centuries-old tradition of the Olympic Games of the Modern Era. For the first time in history, a country hosting the Olympics will not hold its opening ceremony in a stadium. In this edition, you will take part in the famous Rio Sena which crosses the entire city.
Maybe you're wondering how the athletes will parade if it's not going to be in a stadium? Well, don't worry, know that all the athletes who will participate in the ceremony will parade in boats that will travel approximately 6 kilometers along the River Seine.
4 – Technology Will Make Employees Multilingual
I'm a big fan of technology and you should be up to date with what's happening especially with AI in different sectors. But know that in Paris, technology will also be present and to guarantee maximum hospitality and guidance for tens of thousands of visitors who will closely follow the games, something was done in an interesting way.
In the city's metro, employees will be in possession of a device of which the city hall will make 3,000 copies available. The interesting thing is that it will be available in 16 languages. The employee simply writes in French and the device will translate it into audio in Portuguese, English, Arabic...
This device will remain a legacy of the Olympics and will be very useful in serving the millions of people who visit the city every year. A wise move from the city hall.
5 – Neutral Flag
As in other editions, athletes from countries that are in conflict, such as Ukraine, Russia and Belarus, will be able to compete in the games, but without representing their respective countries. The athletes will be under a neutral flag and if they win a place on the podium, they will have their own song and it will not be their nation's anthem.

Eu não sei de você meu querido leitor, mas eu gosto muito quando chega as Olimpíadas. Eu aprecio muito qualquer tipo de tradição histórica e ainda mais envolvendo centenas de esportes em um mesmo lugar. Na edição deste ano, será na maravilhosa cidade em Paris, na França. A data está bem próxima, começará no dia 26 de julho e terminará em 11 de agosto.
Nunca tive a chance de acompanhar de perto, apesar de que vontade eu tenho. Até na época em que os Jogos aconteceram aqui no Brasil em 2016, não pude ir, mas as Olimpíadas eu sempre assisti pela TV. Lembro que na edição que aconteceu no Rio, eu estava no meu primeiro ano de faculdade em Educação Física e na época pedia-se muitos voluntários para a organização.
Eu acho fascinante e para quem teve algum tipo de experiência na juventude nos jogos escolares, sem dúvidas tem uma ideia de como seria algo próximo a organização dos Jogos. Seria bem interessante encontrar algum hiver que já participou das Olimpíadas. Com certeza qualquer atleta mesmo não conseguindo obter alguma medalha, só o fato de ter participado já é um feito enorme.
Como em qualquer edição, sempre existirá coisas novas, modalidades inseridas pela primeira vez e claro, tecnologias inovadoras para deixar o evento cada vez mais com aquela sensação de “moderno” e “inovador”. Na edição em Paris não será diferente. Por isso que para quem está aguardando ansioso, irei trazer aqui no artigo 5 curiosidades sobre as Olimpíadas para essa edição que começará em breve. 1 – Um Pedaço de Ferro da Torre Eiffel Estará Presente em Todas as Medalhas
Eu não tenho dúvidas de que qualquer atleta fará o possível para obter uma medalha, mas um fato bastante interessante poderá dar mais uma importante motivação, para cada medalha ouro, prata ou bonze) terá 18 gramas de ferro da Torre Eiffel. Sim, aquele monumento magnífico mais famoso da França.
Você deve estar se perguntando como isso seria possível, certo? Bem, saiba que a Torre Eiffel foi construída em 31 de março de 1889, desde essa época até nos dias atuais, o monumento precisou fazer algumas reformas e em consequência disso, alguns pedaços foram guardados e agora aproveitados nas medalhas que poderá ser visto no centro de cada uma delas.
2 – O Surfe não acontecerá em Paris.
A cidade não possui mar, pois fica no norte da França, mas nos jogos terá o surfe como modalidade. Não é a primeira vez que que esse esporte está inserido nas Olimpíadas, na primeira edição foi em Tóquio, Japão em 2020.
Para que o surfe aconteça, será disputada em Taiti, na tradicional praia de Teahupo'o. Lá é bastante famoso por suas ondas gigantes e será um ótimo ambiente para os atletas disputarem e encontrarem sua onda perfeita para conquistar sua medalha.
3 – Cerimônia Não Será de Forma Tradicional
No dia 26 de julho, como já sabemos, será a data da abertura da próxima edição e quebrará uma tradição de séculos dos Jogos Olímpicos da Era Moderna . Pela primeira vez na história, um país sede das Olimpíadas não fará sua cerimônia de abertura em um estádio. Nesta edição fará no famoso Rio Sena que cruza por toda a cidade.
Talvez você deve estar se perguntando em como os atletas irão desfilar se não será em um estádio? Bem, não se preocupe, pois saiba que todos os atletas que participarão da cerimônia irão desfilar dentro de barcos que vão percorrer cerca de 6 quilômetros pelo Rio Sena.
4 – Tecnologia Fará os Funcionários serem Poliglotas
Eu sou um grande apreciador de tecnologia e você deve estar por dentro do que está acontecendo principalmente com a AI em diferentes setores. Mas saiba que em Paris, a tecnologia estará também presente e para garantir o máximo de hospitalidade e orientação para dezenas de milhares de visitantes que irão acompanhar de perto os jogos, algo foi feito de forma interessante.
No metro da cidade, funcionários estarão em posse de um dispositivo que a prefeitura irá disponibilizar 3,000 exemplares. O interessante é que ele estará disponível em 16 idiomas. Basta o funcionário escrever em francês e o aparelho irá traduzir em áudio em português, inglês, árabe...
Esse dispositivo ficará como legado das Olimpíadas e será bastante útil para atender as milhões de pessoas que visitam a cidade todos os anos. Uma atitude acertada da prefeitura.
5 – Bandeira Neutra
Assim como em outras edições, atletas de países que estão em conflitos como é o caso atualmente da Ucrânia, Rússia e Belarus, poderão competir aos jogos, mas sem representar seus respectivos países. Os atletas estarão sob uma bandeira neutra e caso conquistem um lugar ao pódio, eles terão uma música própria e não será o hino de sua nação.
