Too Easy

This evening the Springbok rugby team defeated Argentina convincingly and in the process won the Rugby Championship. 7 tries to 1 winning by 48-7 is a score line that showed their dominance.

World Rugby has tried to tweak the rules after last years World Cup by trying to reduce the number of scrums. The SA team capitalized today opting for scrums from penalties and ground the Argentinian forwards into submission. This is the platform that sets up their game plan and why other teams struggle to compete against them.

There have been a number of articles written lately how Argentina could have won today after they had defeated South Africa in Argentina. The problem with the SA Team that went to Argentina was it was a team that would give the top players a break enabling them to have a two week holiday at home with no travelling. There is definitely a sense of jealousy right now which I have not noticed before.

Sky Sports obviously not happy with the comment of 15 players versus 13 players and obviously not enjoying seeing the Argentinians getting hammered. I dare say if it was England playing they would not even mention the players having been sent off for foul play. Every other country seems rattled with the New Zealanders scratching their heads how they are not the dominant team anymore. Maybe they should take a serious look at their home based competition because it is rather obvious why they are no longer the force they once were.

The Springbok team is the envy of the other rugby playing countries and it is up to them to hunt them down. South Africa's turn around from being rock bottom in 2018 to double World Cup winners in 2019 and 2023 and now Rugby Championship winners in 2024. The SA Rugby Board fixed the infrastructure is what happened and until other countries do the same they will not improve. They need to pull the band aid off and admit they have a problem and until that happens they will remain as they are. England, New Zealand and Australia need to make the changes and I just do not see them doing it until it is too late. The sport has moved on and they are being left behind.

The Autumn internationals is all that is left this year and I am still not sure where will be on November the 16th. would like to be at Twickenham for the England vs SA game, but by then I would possibly be back in SA already after my upcoming trip to the UK and Portugal. I am booking tickets within the next week or so, but delaying the trip for a rugby game may not work which is a bummer.
