Well we all know that sports is as old as man itself, since the beginning of time sports has taken various shapes and names like throwing of spears (javelin), hunting with bows and arrows (archery) and so on.
There are hundreds of sports being played today and many more are being invented everyday.
Today we would be looking at the top five oldest and newest sports in the world.
OLDEST SPORTS
RUNNING/SPRINTING
This is one of the oldest sports in the world, it has millions of people that participate in it on daily basis.
Running is a sport that is as old as man but it takes it's origins from Greece and it became a main event in the olympic games in 776 BC olympics.
WRESTLING
Without a doubt this is one of the oldest and popular sports in the world, wrestling has been in existence for a very long time according to paintings from French artists, it was used to showcase strength amongst the men at that time.
In today's world, wrestling has many types like WWE, sumo wrestling and so on, it is also an olympic sport.
BOXING
This is a sport that needs no introduction a per how popular it is.
Boxing is a combat sport that requires strength, technique, stamina and endurance.
It originates from Greece in 600 BC, then it crept it's way into time and then into the united kingdom where is was turned into a professional sport and played in the olympics.
GYMNASTICS
Taking it's origins from Greece (yes Greece again), this is a mentally challenging sport that requires strength, stamina, technique and so on.
It made it's olympic debut in 1896 and since then it has gone from strength to strength and has various branches today.
JAVELIN THROW
In ancient times (around 708BC), throwing of spears (javelin) was used for hunting animals and for recreational activities as the spears were lighter.
In 1906, it was introduced as a sport and was put in the track and field event in the olympics and the spears were made heavier.
There are many other worthy mentions like long jump, polo, hockey, archery and hurling.
NEWEST SPORTS
EARTHING
This sport was created in Denmark at the summer of 2013 by Mark Aaron Sans.
It is a combination of running and swimming and it involves sprinting on land and then swimming through water in record time, the winner is declared the fastest human on earth.
HANTIS
Hantis was created in 2010 by Ben Fatheiree, Jason johns and their friends.
It started in classrooms and it quickly spread to schools because of the similarities to table tennis and the difference is that it makes use of four different tables with four players who freestyle with one ball.
BLO-BALL
Imagine playing table tennis without the paddles.
The players involved blow the ball with their mouths and if you manage to score past your opponent, you will score one point.
It was invented in 1993 by Ken Weiland.
360 BALL
It was invented by South African brothers Mark and John Collins in 1990 but it was recreated in 2010.
As the name suggests, it is played in a circled trampoline by either two players (singles) or two players in a team (doubles), they use a racket and smack a ball on a smaller circle shaped trampoline.
KNUCKLE RACKET
In 2009, Jose Castillo created the knuckle racket.
It is played on a racquetball court and is played by punching a ball through the racquetball net.
This sport is basically the combination of boxing and racquetball put into one because you punch the ball against a wall with your knuckles.
Other worthy mentions are R- world, supa punt, hammer field, ryderball and so on.
