As we all know they are hundreds if not thousands of sports being played by many athletes today, many of them are popular while some are not so popular.
Sports like football, basketball, tennis, wrestling, boxing, cricket etc are amongst the popular sports while sports like badminton, gymnastics and so are popular in some regions but in general they are not so popular.
Today we will be looking at the top five underrated sports, in my opinion these sports are not getting the recognition they deserve so i will be listing those sports now.
BADMINTON
Badminton is a racquets sport that is played a racquet which is used to strike a shuttlecock across a net.
It is played singularly (one on each side) or with a team of two on each side.
It is often played as a recreational activity or as a competitive sport but i personally think that badminton should get more recognition from people because it is a sport that can be used to relieve stress when one has a rough day.
CRICKET
The governing body of cricket is known as the international cricket council (ICC).
This is a team sport that is mostly popular amongst Asians (Indians, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and so on), Africans (South Africans), and some european countries (England) and Australia.
Cricketers are hardly known around the world, cricket is a sport that requires concentration and focus so i hope that the world would start recognizing the sport.
MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
Mixed martial arts otherwise known as MMA is a combat sport between two people who are locked in a cage.
It is mostly dependent on the striking, ground fighting and grappling skills one uses on an opponent which is basically a combination of boxing, kickboxing and martial arts and the only way to win is via a TKO, submission or by anonymous decision.
MMA is quite popular but in my opinion it is not fully appreciated as a sport, i personally love the sport because it requires discipline, hardwork, dedication, and fighting spirit.
RUGBY
Rugby is a close contact team sport that found it's origins from the 19th century in England.
This sport is all about agrressivess, speed and discipline and this combination makes it fun to watch.
Once a player gets the ball, he tries to run with the ball and touch down on an opponents box with protection from his teammates.
Rugby should be more popular than it already is in my honest opinion.
ICE HOCKEY
This is a close contact winter team sport played on ice skates in an ice rink.
The teams use ice hockey sticks to control a rubber disc called a puck in order to score in the other opponents net.
Ice hockey is not popular because people hate the actual fighting that occurs during a game but i personally love it because it lets two rivals settle their differences there and then.
There are many more sports that are underrated and are worthy of mentioning but this is my top five personal picks.
