Hello friends of the Sportstalk community I hope you are well, today was played the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinal between Villareal and Liverpool. Liverpool came into this match after a very tough match against Newcastle over the weekend that they managed to win by 1-0 to continue with their League aspirations, also came with a 2-0 lead achieved at Anfield last week in a match they dominated from start to finish and where they had many scoring opportunities. On the other side we find Villareal who had just lost in a very weak match against Alaves 2-1.

The match started with a frenetic pace of Villareal that in a few minutes found a goal that put them on top on the scoreboard, an early goal that stunned Liverpool and put them in a difficult position just 3 minutes into the match, the goal came from the feet of Boulaye Dia who managed to push the ball without the goalkeeper after a good pass from Capoue that left him alone. The match started to develop with Villareal establishing a high pressure from their midfielders to prevent the Liverpool players from coming out cleanly, a strategy that worked very well for them as in the 41st minute they would find the second goal after a perfect cross from Capoue and Coquelin would head it in to make it 2-0 and tie the series, and so the first half would end, with Villareal playing a great game without allowing Liverpool to develop theirs.

The second half started with the series tied, Klopp made a change where Luis Diaz entered and Diogo Jota came out, on the other hand Villareal started the second half with the same team and again they tried to press high enough to try to break Liverpool's circuits and thus prevent them from generating play and for the first few minutes it worked well, However, it was only a matter of time before Klopp's change took effect and Luis Diaz began to create some problems on the wing, 10 minutes into the second half Liverpool were already changing the situation and had a chance that almost ended in a goal with a shot from outside the box by Arnold that hit the post, At this point Liverpool began to warn that things would change and in fact 7 minutes later in the 62nd minute Fabinho on a pass from Salah would score Liverpool's first goal in a play where in my opinion Rulli, the Villareal goalkeeper, had some responsibility, This goal would be what Liverpool needed to wake up and in a frenetic pace only 5 minutes later would score again this time it would be Luis Diaz with a header from a pass from Alexander Arnold who with an exquisite cross would leave him alone against Rulli and the Colombian would not miss but this would not be all because 7 minutes later Sadio Mane would win a divided ball against Rulli that would leave him alone against the goal to score the third and final goal of the match, Liverpool managed to score 3 goals in 12 minutes to overwhelm Villareal and leave them with no chance with an overall score of 5-2, with notable performances from Colombian Luis Diaz, Naby Keita among others.

Liverpool are heading to Paris having won a match that at the beginning was complicated and it even looked like they could be eliminated but with the great class of their players they managed to pull through and come back to finish with a comfortable aggregate score of 5-2. Tomorrow's match between City and Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu will decide who will be the other finalist, in my opinion we are on the verge of an English final.

That's it for this opportunity folks, let me know in the comments what you think of this Liverpool performance and who you think will be the other finalist.

Sort:

Villarreal were coasting to the dream land only for Liverpool to wake up and dent their hope. It was an entertaining match.

definitely it was a very entertaining match, in the end Liverpool won as we all expected.

They did. Real Madrid and Liverpool for the final.
