The EFL fixtures for tonight are packed with a lot of really interesting fixtures. A lot of the major teams in the premier league also had fixtures. The obvious game of the night is the one between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

However, as anyone would expect, Liverpool's game was the one that got most of my attention.

Brighton vs Liverpool

Our lineup for the game is quite different from the squad we played over the weekend. For this particular game, a lot of players that usually make it to our starting lineup had to be benched.

It's not a surprise though. We needed to rest some of the players and allow others to step up and contribute to the team.

This competition is also not as prolific as the likes of European Champions League or English Premier. However, this is the sort of tournament we need to win even while having our major focus on the bigger awards.

First Half;

Liverpool's performance in this first half of the game is a highlight of what happens when players get an opportunity to play competitive football after sitting on the bench for so long. It was so obvious in the way Liverpool played.

We struggled to hold onto the ball. Our passes were weak, and our gameplay all over the field didn't look decent.

  • Our defense was sloppy in the way they cleared the ball.

  • Our midfielders looked out of position a couple of times.

  • Our attackers didn't get to the end of any fairly decent goalscoring opportunity.

So, the positive thing Liverpudlians can take away from this half of the game is that we didn't concede a goal. Yeah!

Second Half;

Everything that didn't happen in the first half of the game was carried over to the second half of the game. The second half opened with a sweet goal by Cody Gakpo. He scored another one after a few minutes to give Liverpool 2 goals lead.

Quansah, on the other hand, has a shitty game in the second half of the game. Liverpool conceded two goals in this game, and each of those goals was due to defensive errors from Quansah. It's painful to watch him do that. However, I can't make a case for him.

The goal that won the game for Liverpool was scored by Luis Diaz. His goal is well deserved, and his celebration for the goal speaks volume.

This was a decent win for Liverpool.
