Liverpool played against Brighton in mid-week and had an interesting win in that game. It's a game in which Liverpool had to rest most of the players in their first XI. We still got a win in that high-scoring game.
It's so interesting that we are playing against Brighton again this weekend... Within the same week. This time around, both sides started the game with their best XI.
It was a rough start for Liverpool. We conceded an early goal in the game and this made things tough for us in the first half of the game. That goal was a brilliant one from Brighton. I genuinely can't sit here and write anything bad about the build-up to the goal. It was a brave move and well-deserved for the visitors.
Liverpool, on the other hand, got a couple of chances in the first half but couldn't score from any of them. We also got a bunch of set pieces but couldn't score from those.
Second Half
The second half was fairly balanced with both sides making attempts to defend and create chances. This was the case until Arne Slot did substitutions which completely changed the game in favor of Liverpool.
Yeah!
Liverpool scored two goals in quick succession in the 69th and 72nd minute to equalize the scoreline and get ahead of Brighton. The first goal came from Cody Gakpo while the winning goal came from the Egyptian King, Mo Salah.
Slot did two more substitutions to bring in Endo and Bradley as fresh legs to defensively hold things tight for Liverpool. The tactics worked perfectly. Liverpool maintained their lead and got all 3 points from the game.
Now, we look forward to another game which is going to be on a whole different level of toughness... The Tuesday UCL game against Bayern Leverkusen.
I hope Liverpool gets the win.
