This game is up there as one of the most important games Liverpool would have to play this season. It's a game between the topmost EPL title contenders, and this is especially important for Liverpool because the only EPL game we've lost this season is against Nottingham Forest.
So, who do y'all think is going to win this game?
For me, I wish for a Liverpool win. However, I'm not high on my expectations because we've not been performing decently since 2 - 3 weeks ago.
First Half
One thing about Nottingham Forest is that they are really stingy at the back. They keep their backline tight and they don't allow themselves to concede any goal. They defend as a whole unit, from their attacking players to the midfielders, and then the defenders.
At the early stages of the game, Liverpool managed to get a bunch of opportunities to score. They created a couple of chances within the first 7 minutes and I'm sure Gravenberch will be gutted for not scoring any of those. He basically bottled two really good goalscoring opportunities.
Nottingham Forest on the other hand got their first chance and buried that. They scored at the 8th minute and made the rest of the first half a complete disaster for Liverpool.
Honestly, Liverpool's performance in this half of the game was very poor. We couldn't create additional chances going forward. We also couldn't even complete decent passes. Instead, we chose to go for back passes to our backline.
This is the worst performance I've seen from Liverpool in any half of football this season.
Second Half
I would normally watch Liverpool play and be sure we will be getting results. However, as we stepped into the first five minutes of the second half, it still felt like we were giving the same awful performance we saw in the first half of the game. It was honestly hard to watch that.
Big respect to Nottingham Forest. They defended that 1-goal lead with everything they have and their goalkeeper was superb. He didn't let anything get through until Liverpool finally found a way to get an equalizer.
Just before we played a corner kick, Arne Slot decided to do a substitution. He introduced Tsimikas and Jota. Interestingly, Tsimikas ended up taking the corner kick and the delivery was better than every other corner we've been playing since the beginning of the game. Jota got on the end of it and scored to get the equalizer.
Super sub... Super goal!
We did a few more substitutions and pressed hard. However, none of that led to a goal for Liverpool.
Well, we ended this game with a 1 - 1 draw. That's a poor scoreline. However, the performance is even worse than the scoreline.
Not a good day at the office, for sure.
