The 2007-08 Arsenal campaign

As an Arsenal supporter and football lover, this history will forever remain green but emotional.

Most people agree that the 2007/8 season was destined to be Arsenal's. We had one of the best teams in the world. The group we had, the quality, how we linked together, how we played -- it was beautiful.
One of those players that some Arsenal fans seem to have forgotten about is Eduardo Da Silva.

Eduardo was one of a very few players that could seemingly freeze time, especially in front of goal. Dudu always seems to have all the time in the world to either pick out a player or have a strike on goal. His technique and convertion rate was absolutely amazing.

Until that terrible tackle by Martin Taylor of Birmingham city fc, which not only robbed his career and Arsenal's title charge, but also the footballing world. Eduardo would have, and should have been a football legend. He was right up there with the very best.

I remember a goal against Man City that he scored. A cross was coming from the left, and a Man City player chasing it. Backing the goal post, Eduardo controlled and switched the ball with the left side of his chest, ghosting the defender in the process, all in one brief movement, and turning around, volleyed the ball into the net, keeper rooted to one spot! It was a delight!

After that tackle we just stopped playing. It clearly affected the whole team and certainly cost the League title . More importantly Eduardo was never the same!

If we’d won the league that season, more players would have stayed. Robin [van Persie], Mathieu Flamini, Gilberto Silva, Gael Clichy, Cesc Fabregas, Rosicky... if we’d stayed together, it could have been really great.
