As a passionate Wismut Aue fan, it's always a pleasure to write about the successes of our beloved club. At the end of an exhausting English week, we finally managed to halt our three-game losing streak and returned to our solid defensive play, keeping a clean sheet for the first time since the opening matchday. It was the reaction we all had been longing for.
Our team made several changes in the starting lineup, including the return of Niko Vukancic in defense and Marcel Bär in the center of the attack. Initially, it turned into a patience-testing game with both teams showing some promising play up to the penalty area. However, the final passes were imprecise, and our attacking prowess left much to be desired. Even a flurry of free-kicks didn't find the back of the net.
However, the second half brought a sudden change in the game. After being cautioned eight minutes earlier, former Aue player Rizzuto received a second yellow card for an awkward challenge against Sean Seitz in the 58th minute. Playing with a numerical advantage, Aue found themselves in the driver's seat and finally broke the deadlock. Borys Tashchy was on hand to score his first goal of the season.
Even with a man down and a deficit, the Saarbrücken side put up a brave fight and managed to equalize late in the game. But Aue had one more trick up their sleeves. A fantastic pass from Kilian Jakob found Borys Tashchy, who passed the ball to Sean Seitz just ahead of the advancing Saarbrücken goalkeeper. It was a simple finish into the empty net for Sean Seitz.
The Veilchen (Violets) continued to dominate the match, but they couldn't convert their dominance into further goals. Nevertheless, our team maintained control and composure, securing the long-awaited home victory after three consecutive losses. Saarbrücken once again proved to be a welcomed guest, and Aue remains unbeaten at home with an impressive 8-1 goal difference in four home games. We also handed 1. FC Saarbrücken their first away defeat of the season.
In our upcoming away fixture against Viktoria Köln, we anticipate a tougher challenge, as the Rhinelanders are still undefeated at Sportpark Höhenberg. However, with the energy and determination our team has shown, we are confident that we will continue to be successful. Come on, Wismut Aue!
