Monday Sports Talk Social Quiz #9
You can read the rules for the quiz here, otherwise let's crack on with this week's questions.
Questions 1 to 3 - Say what you see
We've played similar rounds before where you've had to come up with the names of teams and players by looking at the pictures, this time you'll need to tell me which cricketing phrases/terminology the pictures show.
Don't worry if you've never watched a game of cricket in your life, you can still answer these questions by literally saying what you see ...
Question 1
Question 2
Question 3
Question 4 - You're the umpire
Now that you've read my guide to cricket and been converted into an ardent follower of the greatest sport ever invented, you've decided to go one step further and become an umpire.
You are officiating in your first T20 game when this happens.
The bowler runs up to bowl the ball. The batsman plays a defensive shot and the ball hits his leg and is deflected along the ground to the boundary. All the fielders and bowlers jump up in the air and appeal for LBW and you decide to give it out. The batsman however, disagrees with your decision and uses DRS to review it. The video replay shows that no part of the bowler's foot was behind the popping crease when he bowled the ball.
Decide
- Is the batsman out or not? Why?
- How many runs would be awarded in this situation and to who?
- Describe which signals you, the umpire, would have to give throughout this process
- What would happen with the next ball?
