This topic to me is always a hot one whenever Arsenal drops points , be it draw or lose. When Arsenal slip up consecutively be sure to expect a memorandum by Arsenal fans calling for the Spanish gaffer's head .
Do you blame them ? to be honest at a first glance you won't . I mean it's almost 6 years trusting the process with nothing to show for it you might want to argue. Bottling two premier league wins consecutively is certainly worthy is a further claim .
All the claims above are true to be candid, but Arsenal fans should not ever forget Arteta laid the solid foundations on which the team is riding on till this moment .
The Gunners on Saturday played a goal-less draw with Everton at the Emirates which makes it the second consecutive draw in the last two epl matches . The goal-less draw against Everton at the Emirates certainly didn't go well with most fans of the club as they saw a win in this match as an opportunity to close the gap on league leaders , Liverpool who also dropped two points in the weekend against Fulham .
At this juncture some Arsenal fans are just patient with Arteta until the end of the season. The clock is ticking now. If Liverpool walk the title in Slot's first season, and Arteta wins nothing even if it’s only a Carabao cup, that means it's time up for the Spanish gaffer.
Some like myself still believe there is still not that "never say die spirit " in the squad . I don't think Arteta has successfully unlocked that code with the boys yet . I mean take a look at Liverpool's game against Fulham . Even with the reds with a man down they still managed to salvage a win . That's some toughness the Gunners are still in my opinion lacking.
On a serious note we need to also consider this as Arsenal fans. Liverpool won 8 games straight drew 1 and then won 18 consecutive games the year they won the league. Man City have also done that number twice before. Ask yourself, do you genuinely think Arteta’s Arsenal can do that?
To be honest I wanted to see us push on this season. The options to get a forward were there this summer, to argue otherwise is disingenuous. He’s (Arteta) a terrific tactician and motivator, but he relies too heavily on physicality and set pieces now knowing we’re blunt up front.
If he finally signs a striker, for the first time in his entire 5-year Arsenal reign. Not a sorta-striker, like Havertz, or a fake striker, like Jesus, but a real, goal-scoring striker just maybe we might challenge for the title. I know there aren't many out there, but there aren't NONE, as he seems to believe.
A good coach knows what is lacking in his team, and goes all out for it. That's all I can say. Even as Pep won the league, he went all out for Halland. We have always needed a winger to complement Saka and an attacker to help us in finishing, but we keep finding the cheapest options . I really just wonder why !
Personally I'm 100% keen on Arteta staying but there is a lot he needs to consider especially when the main system isn't working. We are way too reliant on specific players to perform week in week out when there are 11 players on the pitch. There needs to be versatility in the squad. I’d like to see some better signings in areas of most need and I think the next 2 transfer windows are critical in doing this. A striker and left winger and quality players in these 2 positions, not bargains or loans.
