Update Roadmap

Alpha 4 is set to release on September 9. "This step will add teams, team synergy and experience, research projects NFTs and more!"

Alpha 'Final Round' will release on September 23. "It will add card cooldowns, unlock multigames and add some colony market features. We'll get as far as we get depending on development constraints."

All Alpha rewards will be distributed before the final round. "EXOFUEL, Settler experience and alpha boosters to be distributed depending on participation to previous content. We will check rewards for every account, and check XP to send for past alpha challenges!"

Pre-access to Beta will also be deployed during September, although we did not get a specific date. This will be an account-specific amount of reserved Beta packs that you can purchase based on your Settler Level and collection power. EXODE is taking the Synergy of Serra route where the price of Beta packs will increase as more are sold.

NFTs

Research Projects in EXODE are now becoming NFTs. Once you research a project during a game, it becomes your own game NFT and you can trade your results with other players on the colony market.

@elindos gave a good explanation of how the in-game NFTs will function:

Let's explain again this EXODE unique system with game NFTs, one of severals, as this is a very important aspect of the game and its economy.
-When you use a collection NFT (one of your cards) you lock it to your game.
-You will recover this card once a game ends.
-When you do, you get some XP on it to improve it further.
-XP, improvement and rewards will depend on your game duration.
-These rewards are what we call Legacy Rewards.
The longer and better your game is, the more rewards you will unlock as you unlock more "reward tables" thanks to your game activity.
Legacy rewards improve your collection NFTs.
And collection NFTs are the most valuable permanent thing, the starting firepower of every game.

We have identified while experiencing other games that a key to asset valuation is having every single asset proposing something unique. And by that I mean that this was part of EXODE concept but we haven't seen that really used much elsewhere. The lack of it leads to an issue which we will detail further. When you don't do that players will compete with each other to sell the exact same thing. This makes "price" the only factor. When all assets are identical to each other, usually supply goes up and up until it largely exceeds demand, especially as some players become autonomous in it and no longer need it. Then market competition in turn destroys an asset value, sometimes even very quickly. Lack of game layers or PVE accelerates it even further. And not only will your ROI go out of the window, but also all current valuation.

Player-Made Content

Personally I love the idea of player-made NFTs, and as I mentioned in 🍉 [MELN] Weekly EXODE Wrap-Up #35, you can expect to see some 🍉 [MELN] branded buildings in the future.

But just as players rely on 2325 technology (and cards) to deploy and survive, colonies will also mature and players will also rely more on player-made content to continue. Player made content does not replace "collection content" and is actually boosted by it in new games.
Player-made content will also include weapons, ammunition, ship parts, ships, market nodes, maybe even a player station someday. The collection, in a way, is just the beginning of your uniqueness, there will be plenty of other niches thanks to a multilayered environment, an asymetric PVE vs an unknown, overpowered alien faction. And we have only scratched the surface of our EXODE lore and what happens to every faction in the new world.
The player made economy is even stronger thanks to planet uniqueness and resource invention (as you "design" your own resources), making every planet its own niche of collector resources with limited reserves.
As we add rarity to research (you can discover Common, Rare, Epic or Legendary versions of every tech) we'll also give licensing options and full trading options to it.

I think what I like the most about Exode is the artwork, followed by the lore behind every single card/ability/faction/ ... you get the idea. I do like such detail as it makes the entire world more immersive (if one bothers to actually read).
I love the music/sound effects too, although that could be personal bias as that music brings back memories of when I first started playing Starcraft.
That being so, the entire game with all it's different stats/abilities/and the like, is proving to be rather intimidating to any casual player. Perhaps a "game advisor" for every action you take in the game which can be toggled on/off, much like those used in the Civilization series?

The tech as NFTs and the way that the resources produced can be unique and uniquely limited due to the planetary uniqueness and game play choices. In combination with this I look forward to seeing how the in game market works out.

Another great idea is the passive asset upgrades so that playing longer games with your owned assets makes them inherently stronger and more valuable! I wonder how this feature will impact combining of cards. Will the base cards combine and all "buffs" be reaplied to the resulting asset, will only one cards "buffs" be maintained, or will it impeade combining in some way?

I am very interested to see how @elindos maintains the playability for someone with only a starter pack, and at the same time maintains the intrest for folks with tons of cards and all of the contracts! This must be very chalenging for the developers.

Extremely good question! I assume that the two cards would combine into a better version with the level of both of their experiences combined, but I'm not sure.

I bet that the playability for people with just starter packs will come from the crafting system and what resources they find on their planet.

I really like these 2 points. It reminds me of the "Enchantment" card played in MTG. The longer it stays ingame without being destroyed, it'll give you more XP and stuff... This fits that type of card completely.

As for suggestions, it is as before. Exode is MASSIVE in terms of information. So much so that it feels like an info overload at times. It's great for people who like immersion and lore. Not so great for a newbie. That's why I believe the entire game needs an automated advisor to recommend actions for every step. Optional of course, so any experienced players can toggle it off.

I never played MTG but that sounds like a good mechanic.

I agree with the automated advisor! Or even just being able to right-click on anything and see a tooltip like Master of Orion II.

I am most interested in the research system and the progression. The output of the efforts and seeing a team work together to make the output better. The team interaction and efficiency that can come from well selected skills and personalities.

After that, I am most interested in seeing how the XP gained is applied to cards and how much better they preform after upgrades.

Lastly, I am interested in seeing how long my crew will survive. With no weapons, it will be hard to live through the exploration needed. Though I happen to have a little craft that might help avoid some ground attacks. Once the multi-game is enabled I look forward to launching a new crew or maybe a few ...

As for suggestions, deck building needs to be upgraded before multi-games are enabled.

I want to see that too! I wonder if it will be a straight upgrade to all stats or if you get to pick one to boost like with upgradable cards.

I agree that deck building should be improved, especially for players with large collections like myself, the UI breaks sometimes. I was trying to show my girlfriend how Evacuation worked and we were unable to start because loading up my deck did not work multiple times. Granted, this was a long time ago and I have not played Evacuation since.
