I see the Flying Squid at level 6 where it gets the Blind Ability as a very balanced card that can be used in many matches while it also is very powerful in specific situations. All this without being overpowered and in most cases having more expensive alternatives that are stronger. It was one of the cards that I leveled up quite early on after Chaos Legion was released just because it was a good value addition to my overall collection.
The blind ability is where this card shines and it's possible to build a speed water deck around it with the Kelya summoner n game rules where Magic is not allowed or with Djinn Oshannus as main tank which is what I did in the match for this battle challenge.
The Kelya Summoner helped to play into the narrative of this deck giving all monsters +1 Speed and also +1 Armor which is just crazy powerful. I played the combination Djinn Oshannus as the main tank anticipating manny misses followed by the Flying Squid it increase the chance of this by 25%. I played the Furious Chicken in 3rd place to protect 2 monsters behind as putting it first most likely would make the Flying Squid attack in the first round. The Deeplurker was in place to do some serious damage aiming to kill one of his monsters early on and the Ruler of The Seas helped with the Speed narrative also doing damage and nerfing Magic for the opponent. In the final place, there was another monster with the Creeping Oozeto help with the speed narrative.
Having 7 Speed with all monsters of the opponent being blinded and Magic being able to miss on while also having void on the main tank with 11 Health + 1 Armor is just really powerful and hard to kill as even 6-speed monsters have a 35% chance to miss it. Having a dedicated strategy is a really fun way to play the game especially if you can make it work.
