Welcome to this kind of post/tutorial in which I bring you the creation of my logo for @ragnarok.game as my entry to this contest, I'm using this free image resources from third party sites:
Valnukt, the runic triangle, known as the knot of death and representing the nine worlds of Norse cosmology according to popular belief and that it is strongly linked to Ragnarok.
Reith, which means journey and represents the letter R, literally. I thought it was the perfect option.
The third is a Celtic symbol that will be used in the logo design, along with other symbols from other mythologies of the world, merging into the knot of death, later I show this idea...
Step 1:
The first thing is to arrange the PNGs in the design area, 2000*1900px is the size I chose, so that the logo has good resolution in any part, and with transparent background of course, I will hide the Rune and the Celtic symbol because I will work first on the background, I wanted to give it a metallic look, simulating that it is made of a rustic gold material, weathered by time but still holding firm.
Step 2:
Using gradients and layer effects I gave it the metallic styling, and then painted it to give it the colors I wanted it to have. On internet there are thousands of tutorials on the internet with thousands of different results for each style, it seems complicated but it is basically playing with the values of the options until you get to the desired point.
Step 3:
I added an overlay of the two characters revealed so far, which will go inside the logos and also added a background that I painted with a gradient. I kept trying colors until I was satisfied with the result.
Step 4:
I added the celtic symbol as a motif to the logo, and combined it with low opacity to make it look like marks, it looks terrible at first but then it looks great. I added symbols of different mythologies, as it says here:
Ragnarok is engulfing all realms, and no mythology is safe. This means you will have Norse, Greek, Egyptian, etc.
Ragnarok is consuming everything!
Step 5:
I added the Rune in the center, representing the name Ragnarok, and to avoid repeating below I wrote the word Ragnarok in Runic calligraphy, below I attach the font. in the end only small touches, such as focus or gradient maps, levels, whatever improves the aesthetics.
And my final result was this:
I don't know why it is uploaded as a .JPG when I saved it as a .PNG but anyway, here I attach the PSD and the Runic font (also free to use) in this Google Drive link.
That's all for now, best of luck to all participants and thanks for watching the post, cheers!
