Hello, pilots and civilians and welcome to the fifteenth installment of the weekly eXode lab report! The game has officially entered a new phase, the long awaited Colonization. As of last Friday, the game inspector has been shut down but you will still be able to access the debriefing room if you had some ongoing investigations. No further actions can be taken at this point so hopefully everyone is all stocked up, trained, and healed up and ready for what comes ahead.
Colonization Challenge: Planet
Now that we are on the 'Planet' phase of the Colonization Challenge, we should slowly but surely start seeing more features getting added. The first thing that migrated over from the Away Teams Challenge was Food.
Each ship's cantina comes equipped with 12 rations made up of pills and nutrients from the current year, 2325. Apart from that, we have also scrounged up a few native though non-relevant food items. (Food from relevant wildlife and vegetation must be analyzed first.) The vegetables are easy, that's just a part of any (edible) plant. Fruit must be in season, so that's probably why we only found 2 out there. We will need to properly cook all plant-derived products since we received intel that certain foods on Casrarene are inedible (some sectors only). All this is barely enough to last 2 days! (Each colonist consumes 2 food per day normally.) A few theories here: I predict that Grains and Cereals might come from plants obtained from the Rare Plants card which are then cultivated in the Biodomes prefab. Side products might come from captured animals. I hope the Preservation Dome has everything they need to survive; I wouldn't want to use my own food rations to feed the Abeausa...
I've been dying of curiosity to know what the 19 materials I collected would fall under! Surprise, surprise! This information is available now! Wow, 9 units of Grade F material. I wonder how many makeshift shelters I will be able to construct with that. Five wood-like units doesn't sound bad. It's too bad we didn't recover anything metallic, though. Well, that's what the elite drill is for! Hopefully, there is enough power for it because there are many other prefabs I brought that need power. Maybe later I will be forced to scrap modules or armor of my ship to come up with Metallic or Modern materials.
And Now We Wait
The end of Away Teams (for now) is sort of a relief. No more need to claim actions every day (or miss them). However, I feel I could have done more to prepare. I trained Eliza a few times in being a better ore researcher as well as plants. Looking at Erias' skill as an engineer, I was left wondering how did he ever even manage to upgrade the hyperdrive successfully in the first place? Well, no need to ponder that now. We made it, didn't we? Let's train him to be a better Engineer anyway though, no?
It's a good thing the colony is paused right now. Captains need to claim rest, too. After the well-deserved rest though, other parts of the game revealed to us before will come into play. With the Away Teams Challenge ending, we will soon receive Settler Points (SP)! Many people will be gaining Settler levels too, I'd imagine. The Settler Level acts as a multiplier for your Colony points. So if I have 36 Colony Points, I will be able to use them all to queue actions for that day. But my Settler Level of 3 will effectively give me 108 points to queue colony actions (such as construction, research, or production projects) over 3 days. You wouldn't want to leave your poor colony unattended for that long though; you would probably miss some important events.
But for now, sit tight, captains! Lots of content to wrap our heads around soon! I've been in the buying mood lately but with the markets in this state I don't think I will be buying any new elites for the time being.
And that wraps up this week's lab report. Make sure to check out the helpful links below!
What is eXode?
eXode is a real-time strategy space colonization game here on the Hive Blockchain. If you still have not purchased your starter pack, use this referral code (de7ed45) and you'll also receive 2 free Alpha Booster Packs with 5 NFT cards each along with a free Epic Alpha Character!
In the future, these lab reports will contain much more substance (and numbers!) including season objective rewards, legacy rewards (when your game...ends), and of course š [MELN] activities.
š [MELN] is the alliance I co-founded, the Market Expansion Leaders Navy. Our leader, @birdbeaksd, is also the host of eXode's only weekly giveaway. Check that out for a chance to win an Explanator shotgun.
For a in-depth guide for anything and everything eXode-related, you can take a look at this post.

What is The 1UP Cartel?
The 1UP-Cartel is a mix between a gaming guild like YGG (that invests into gaming assets and creates scholarships for gamers, sharing the gaming revenue), a dividend token (similar to BRO, LBI, INDEX and UTOPIS, paying out regular dividends to token holders from part of the revenue stream) as well as one of the most extensive curation service initiative on the Hive-Engine ecosystem thus far.
