Greetings, pilots!
Forgive my tardiness in publishing this article. It has been a busy week! I am honored to be the guest host for the π [MELN] Weekly EXODE Wrap-Up for the next 3 weeks! This will be fun, and I'll also try to add my own personal touch to them. Judging by the entries to the last wrap-up, it seems most of you would like to get some some insider tips especially for beginners/limited decks. You'll find some juicy tidbits below in the Tip Corner.
π° News
All has been quiet in terms of development updates so far. All we know is that the colonization loop will become active (at 1/5 the normal speed) in "imminent days". A concrete deadline has not been given because that is not really constructive for the development process. You know how it is. Better to have something that works and looks nice than pushing something that will seem rushed. And then we will be able to start our research projects!
βοΈ Tip Corner
The people have spoken and they want tips. Some things I'll cover that were mentioned last week are weapons and factions. This week we'll feature the Drachian Republic.
These are all the cards belonging to the Drachian Republic currently in alpha. It consists of an upgradeable ship, an equipable armor, a passenger, and a crew member. But they are so much more than just that. Probably after the dynamic card update (coming soon), alpha cards will be able to be leveled/upgraded which will potentially make the "Mantis" one of the strongest ships in the game in terms of stats. The lightweight armor set is a class A tactical suit granting Cover and also Atmoshperic Shielding Quality 3, which might come in handy if your planet has extreme heat/cold or other weather effect.
The Drachian Republic are a militaristic group, as you may guess from some of the #NFT card traits. They gained independance from the Federation (another faction) so they are no strangers to battle. Cue the Drachian Assault Trooper. This card is good for those playing on a budget for a few reasons. It is only rare so it should not be too hard to find or buy. The neat part is that the character comes bound with a set of Scarab Armor and a DR4 Auto. What's that you ask? That's a free weapon! If you don't have any weapons, load a few of these troopers to guard your cargo loaders and station halls. They have skill in Shooting so they got your back.
The only caveat is...how do you recruit a Drachian? In order to play cards in your deck in eXode, the card has to have at least one keyword found on the origin you are using. For example, the Scientific origin allows you to load up cards that contain the keyword Scientific. But... there are no Drachian Republic origins (yet)! This is where the Commissar comes into play. Loading one of his type up as a passenger on your ship (requires a Civilian or Military origin) allows you to use 2 Drachian cards in your deck, and it stacks. The other thing that stacks is the Investigation points granted, which can be used to discover/augment the skills of your future citizens during the crew generation phase. Those points could then be used to increase the Shooting or Cover or some other station skill if you like. It would be wise to invest in some troopers and commissars. I would if I were a new player.
π Giveaway
This week, 3 people have a chance at winning:
x1 Good Morning "Giving you six more reasons to have a great day!"
This is a revolver pistol and makes a distinctive sound when fired during EVAC. It has medium range and quick aiming and is incendiary. With an attack power of 27, you won't be able to withstand many shots from this baby, if they land that is. If you have multiple, Accuracy would probably be something you'd want to upgrade.
