Balance is a state of equilibrium. Mentally, it is a period of calmness and clearheadedness. When the mind feels undisturbed, when there's serenity. Balance does not come from having nothing to worry about, it is the quality of being aware of tasks ahead and the ability to approach each of those 'loads with the proper counterweight'.

Where there is no balance, Lots of things are affected negetively. Mentally, lack of balance causes depression, makes the affected become stressed out and anxious. Professionally, lack of balance leads to decrease in job fulfillment or pleasure which could make a career inactive or stagnant.
Physically, imbalance can cause decrease in production, constant feeling of exhaustion, a long-term psychological burnout or diminished interest.
Socially, lack of balance leads to isolation, poor communication or even relationships that are neither spontaneous nor natural.
Spiritually, absence of balance is absence of purpose and fulfillment, restricting one from giving much attention to or even neglecting the deeper things of life.

Having outlined the dangers that come with not maintaining equilibrium, there is a 'call of duty', a need for balance. But how? Is it possible to maintain balance in a world so unrelenting and chaotic? Yes we can!!!

To achieve balance generally, a conscious effort and intentional habit is required.

Mentally, one who wishes to maintain balance could consider
Engaging in activities that will calm their nerves and bring relief. Make out time to relax and while at it do some meditations, think about things you could have done in past situations and better ways to approach the situation. preferably, make notes to remind you of your determination and resolve. Many people have found trying to connect with people with the ability to offer support and enhance growth with wholesome communications helpful, whereas others have learnt to set limits or psychological dividing lines allowing them develop the ability to say "NO", the best time to take the exit door from things or persons capable of affecting their mental health for the worse.

Other general factors to help one maintain balance includes taking adequate sleep of about 6-9 hours during the night, proper exercise of about (20-45) minutes every morning and nutritional meals during the day, these will give one an edge and enable them face tasks ahead with lots of positivity.

And as you approach these tasks, learn to treat time as what it truely is, "the scarcest resource". Make your work a priority and not an option. This will enable you give it your best. Never forget to set goals that are attainable and work with a time limit. Use alarms, timers and calenders. Never forget to add a little time for rest.

Professionals have discovered that seeking help from other professionals or workmates have played a pivotal role in helping them maintain balance, it is never wrong to ask for assistance. Keep things or people that would rather distract you from completing your tasks in the allotted time far away. Keep signs like "Out of bound to Non-staffs", "No visitors allowed during working hours", as so on to let the signs do the talking. And when you get days in which official activities or businesses are formally suspended or opportunities that could allow you time to engage outside work, use them.

Make meditation and reflection a habit, think about how far you've gone and your achievements so far, think of ways to improve yet again. Thank people who were of assistance and when you've achieved any goal, give yourself a nice treat (Yes, appreciation of oneself is essential).

Remember that achieving balance is like climbing unending stairs, there is never a limit but there is always room for growth and development. Some of the positive results of balance includes.

  • Regulates emotions and increases Joy
  • Increases productivity and focus
  • Enhances the mental ability to recover quickly from depression, thereby making one ready to adapt.
  • Increases the quality of the body's overall performance
  • Fosters healthy relationship and interaction while allowing room for boundaries..
  • Gives one the opportunity to grow in a collective sense

IN CONCLUSION
Maintaining balance could be challenging, yet valuable. Many might consider the processes boring or tiring. But the results have proved to be rewarding over the years. No matter the reasons for requiring balance, those who make effort to reach this level of equilibrium are happy they did. Balance requires a high level of discipline and open-mindedness. I wish to conclude with the words of Daniel Siegel "Balance is not a static state, it's a dynamic process".

I had not seen the balance in that way, this is one of the things I love about HIVE we can always learn something or refresh our way of seeing things by reading publications like yours, I am one of those who rely on my colleagues so that maybe they see something that I do not and that is the intention to support each other so that things go well.

I'm happy to receive your review @actioncats. I'm also glad that you find the points outlined relevant. it is never wrong to ask for help sometimes, it's a sign that we are ready to improve since nobody is an island of knowledge.
