What is your relationship with your mother in law?
Share it on Emotions and Feelings!
This topic .... is close to my heart
Let's go said Mrs M
Those are the words I would love to hear from Mrs M.
Mrs M is my wonderful mother in law and I am Mr B.
That is how we call each other.
I showed the picture that I created in pixlr to Mrs T who immediately said McDonalds and knew exactly what the image was!
This year was a special year in June as Mrs T and I celebrated our silver wedding anniversary.
Although the day I whisked her on a jetplane to come and see me many years ago was on Christmas Eve. I think Mrs M would have been flabbergasted to know that was the start of her daughter living overseas!
Mrs T is from the USA and so is her mother Mrs M. We actually got married in Florida where Mrs T's mother and stepfather were living.
Indeed we even lived there for a couple of years and that is where I got close to Mrs M my mother-in-law.
She is an avid collector and at that time beanie babies were all the rage, and if you got the right ones, you could even make a hefty profit on the second market.
Yes forget crypto I was trading beanie babies and making upto £80 profit on a £4 bear!
Being British I could not work in America until I got my green card. So whilst Mrs T was at work, I would often go with Mrs M shopping eating or just having fun.
Sometimes I would go pick her up and sometimes she would come for me, more often than not it was the latter!
The car scene in the lead image is as a direct result of this.... 👇
Happy Meals at McDonalds
I am not sure if they till do Happy Meals at MaDonalds, but back in the day they did.
You got a little hamburger a bag of fruit and a drink ... and more importantly there was a spell when they gave you a mini ty beanie baby!
Well you can imagine Mrs M's delight she had someone to chum her around....
So we would go through the drive throughs, now bear in mind this was America and you had McDonalds all over the fluffing place.
So we would got from drive through to drive through buying all these happy meals!
Fluff me was I happy!
We did get the whole collection and sold a few, and more importantly we bonded.
Six weeks in Edinburgh and Prague
When we were living in Edinburgh, Mrs T's step father passed away and later we invited Mrs M to come and stay with us.
It was towards the end of the year and so I took both wife and mother-in-law to a holday in Prague in the Czech Republic.
She has a whale of a time, seeing Wenceslas square in the snow. She also loved playing slot machines in the casinos....
The only problem was that she was not used to money apart from US dollars...
We joke about this to this day...
I would be standing playing a slot machine and doing quite well, so would Mrs T, then along would come Mrs M...
I lost it all she would say...
So I would give her more...
My parting comment was the often quote remark between us....
Careful Mrs M, it's not monopoly money!
But seriously though, I could not have asked for a better mother-in-law.
They say look at the mother before you marry the daughter as that is what you end up with.
Well Mrs T and Mrs M are both quite wonderful but in completely different ways!
Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoyed my response to the prompt.
