Today I won a Temporal Master from the SBT discord, and since it looked like a useful card I wanted to try it out right away. For only 3 mana, it has 2 speed, 1 magic damage, and 2 life - plus the Recharge ability, which means it only attacks every other round, but does it with 3x the damage.
Sadly, I'm quite a scatterbrain, so I forgot to use it in the battle
Mother Khala is the only Life splinter summoner I have access to, but she's not a bad woman, so I'd probably have picked her even if there were others. An extra life never hurts, right? And with 39 mana to spend, I could afford to fill every slot, so that's 6 life added to my army!
For starters I picked the Disintegrator, with its useful Demoralize ability. 1 less melee damage for all the enemies!
Luminous Eagle and Shieldbearer came next. The eagle has Reach, so it can attack from the second slot, and the Shieldbearer takes all the enemy attacks, letting the rest of my army survive just a little longer.
For backup I put a Goblin Chariot, a Time Mage and a Pelacor Arbalest. The mage reduced the speed of the enemy army by 1, and the Pelacor Arbalest's Double Strike let it hit twice every round.
Octavia Shadowmeld led the opposing army. Right away she dropped the life of all my troops by one, but since my summoner had already raised it, things were even. She also allows an extra card from Gladiators to be used. I have no idea how useful that is - it depends on how many Gladiator cards you have I suppose?
At the front was a Dumacke Orc and its Shield ability followed by a Possessed Puppet. The Puppet had the same Double Strike ability as my Arbalest, but being in the second slot it couldn't attack at all until the Orc died.
Behind them were a Ravenhood Warden, giving all of them 2 extra armor. That's a nice card which I'd love to have! Then a Gobson Bomber with the Recharge ability I had meant to try out plus Camouflage to protect it from attacks, and a Wily Coyotian.
Blow by blow... I think the reduced speed from my Time Mage is what won the day. The other army only got in one hit, and that just damaged my Shieldbearer's armor, slightly. It was such a total victory that the measly 10 points I won felt like a let-down. I should have got a thousand! Not that I'd have any use for them, since I still don't have a spellbook, but anyway...
